We just replaced the motor and esc in my brothers stampede, When starting it acts jittery and not responsive on the ground however, when in the air it accelerates and gets those wheels really moving..

This leads me to think its something with the gears.. but I can't tell what, I think something is wrong because when you spin on wheel the other should spin in the opposite direction at the same speed and when you stop one the other should stop at the same time, correct?

Currently when I spin one rear wheel the other will move slowly in the opposite direction and when I grab the wheel to stop it from spinning the adjacent wheel keeps going for a while..

Any Ideas?? We really wanna see what this motor can do!

Yea, The speed control has been reset, It was the first time running it. I dont think its the speed control because when the rear wheels are raised off the ground it will run fine. But when on the ground it gives little or no response to the throttle.

well this thread should have been put into the general rc electric talk.

Check the diff gears for wear. If you upgraded to ball diffs check to see that the diff is not too loose. Also check the flat diff washers on the ball diff for smoothness.

I had that problem with my MLST that had a tekin brushless in it. It was my battery pack getting weak. It would be fine when there wasn't any resistance (like the weight of the truck) and the wheels were in the air, but as soon as I set it on the ground, it would jerk itself silly unless I barely increased the throttle. Within a minute, even going slow on the throttle would do it.
