I was cruising the bay this evening and came across this rustler. I assume the inserted plastic pan has something to do with the style of racing or body they were using but the multipiece A arms with carbon fiber/aluminum mix is really throwing me. The one piece skid plate looks interesting as well, skatepark grinding? Anyone else know?

I'd need to see the arms before I was convinced of anything other than that they are bling. They might cure the aluminum a arm blues too tho. 🤔
My guess is that the CF and alum have zero flex and will trash hinge pins, blocks and chassis just like reg alum arms do.
I would be shocked if they are any lighter than stock.

The alum shock tower should be put on a shelf or just melt it down into a Hyundai.

Looks like a metal skid plate running down the length of the chassis?
If its metal, I'd ax that too.
Metal skid on each end is fine. But metal full length is heavy. When the composite chassis flexes, I think the metal will bend and not flex back.

The side wing things are most likely for mounting a pizza box to the truck. 😉

They are the biggest body mounts I've ever seen! 🤷‍♀️🤣

I can't imagine they are saving any weight with the CF with all those extras screws to hold it together haha

Rethinking those side plates.
Was this car a speed runner? Are those things to strap big batteries to the sides of the chassis?

It looks like this buggy was repurposed for the street maybe.

All the bracing looks like its a one-crash-and-done kind of car.

I don't really get into speed running. Fun to watch but not my thing.
Not sure if the stuff on this car is any good or not.

It looks like those held down a giant brick in the center.

Could be on to something there.

Parts of it are interesting. I could see repurposing it yet again, but not for that money. The metal strap down the chassis is low weight in the center, option to mount a single battery on the inside wing, some suspension tuning and see how fast it can oval.

No idea what the side cutting boards are for. Maybe used to brace a more aerodynamic wide body is my guess. But, I'd totally do that center chassis brace/skid plate thing minus the button head phillips screws of course. I always added weight to my 2wd off-road SCTs/STs to better handle bumps/ruts. This Rustler oozes on-road use only.

Just ask the seller what in tarnation is going on with their ride.

I almost bought a center brace/skid for my SC10 years ago to add weight down low...

I'd buy that eBay Rustler if it were in the neighborhood of $110 just to beat the snot out of it... get it out of my system. Rustler parts are cheap. Replace with stock parts as needed 🤷‍♂️

The closest 10th scale oval is about an hour and a half with good traffic. Not sinking $$ into building something I won't use much.

I'd take off the white side pieces and just let the thing rip off-road like a Rustler was meant to do.
I would not care one bit about seeing how much punishment Integy's carbon fiber/aluminum arms could take.
But at the $250 asking price... the thing will most likely sit on eBay until the right person comes along.
If it comes down to $110, let me know. I'll buy it for experimentation purposes.
