i have a .15 rustler that maybe has 5 scratches on it. i've had tuning issues with it. i will admit that my tuning skills suck. i've been tosing around the idea of trading off all of my nitro stuff for a brushless slash. i have the rustler and an os18 cv-r that my friend says that it runs i've never ran it. and a rotostart for the os. nitro is fun but by the time i get going my son is bored and wants to play his ds. i dont know what do you guys think?

Set it to factory setting first off, usually turn in the high speed needle (lean) until it wont tighten anymore then turn it counterclockwise (richen) it 3 full turns. Also make sure your low speed needle is flush with the part around it. Also check to see if you have a bad glow plug, dead glow heater, and if there is any fuel going to the carb. If you have starting issues, these are basically routine to fixing the problem and should be the first things you do. If there isnt any fuel going into the carb, take off the end of the fuel line that connects to the exhaust pipe and blow into it until fuel goes to the carb. If it doesn't your lines are gelled up and need to be replaced. Also watch for air bubbles in the fuel line, that can also cause problems.

i did all of that. i had a revo and it ran good. it will only start when i give it half throttle. and since it uses an easy start it just takes off so its ok. i cleaned the carb and was using fresh fuel with a good glow plug. no air bubbles and was holding good temps just a pain to start.

i've been bitten by brushless power with my sons stampede. he thinks its funny to ram my rustler when it dies and runs it over. he is 6 so it dont take much. lol and i actually have not touched it since i got a mini slash.

when i got it i sealed the engine first. it was used. since it was so clean i checked the needles and it was right on for factory spec. i leaned them just a tough maybe 1/8th turn. i've ran about 10 tanks through it. i've heard that the .15 is a pain in the rear to tune. I've been tosing around the idea of slamming the os into it. i will have to grind some off of the mount which i have an extra. or newera makes one but its 30. the os has about 1.5 gallons on it so my friend says.

Well,I love nitro. Having said that, the .15 can be a bear,I've had a few. However,if your son being with you is important, the Slash will probably be a better way to go. Since I picked one up,my son begs to go out and run. We keep a battery ready to go at all times :)

I'm hoping maybe some day he will turn back to nitro, but for now I'm looking to get a Slash just so we can run together. I still have my nitros for me though ;)
