Had another family day today.
Kids been sick so we kept him home, my wife took the day so I wouldn't have to be alone again with our three-nager; I'm feeling a little burnt out.

With back up we hit the streets.

Training for Nitro Circus is coming along nicely!

We then went to the doctors to get this cough looked at along with a stop at the balloon store.

I couldn't help but laugh at this "Grab & Go"

You don't think maybe the display should be retired? Or perhaps, "Managers Special" that thing.

We capped the day off with a stop at a steakhouse chain for an overpriced, mediocre meal but the company was fantastic 😍

I've been waiting anxiously for nearly a year to replace an exterior bathroom vent cap. Its an all plastic louver style cap, and after +20 years, the plastic had become brittle and fall apart. Living along the edge of woodlands, I fear some critter or insects would take up residence inside. The vent cap, however, is nearly 20' off the ground.
I had placed an order on a 28' extension ladder last summer, to be delivered, but Lowes completely F*ed it up. So, after waiting 3 months, the order was finally canceled.
With all the critters coming out of winter hibernation, I decided it was time to try to order another extension ladder. This time I went with Home Depot. Today, the ladder got delivered, and I finally got the cover replaced!
I've been wanting one of these tall ladders for years. Now, I could do things like checking on my rain gutters.

Got in an early bike ride over the Colorado National Monument with a buddy this morn. 48 miles and 3800 feet of climbing, twas a glorious ride. Saw a couple of rams watching us from on top of the rocks. Just on the othee side of those rocks is about a 7or 8 hundred foot drop, straight down. Them rams dont even notice the drop 😬

Stopped by Guitar center to look around. @Tunedfrog would like this

And I was looking mostly around the pro audio section bc my dad's a DJ so...

Also stopped by the local vintage audio shop to check stuff out also and will be back there in a few weeks to drop off my vintage receiver for a clean up and recap and to get lamps replaced.

Audio Technica stole the Technics SL1200 turntable??? 🤯

Is it any good or is it another Vestax wannabe turntable?

Technics SL1200's were the best a person could buy for spinning!
I used to repair them, replace tone arms and pitch controls all the time, rca cords too, modify the quartz lock, reset the speed... I was a Tech-deck guru!

Is Dad a vinyl guy or cd's or what?

What mixer does he like to use?

I built clubs for a living. Just curious.

He is mostly a Wedding DJ but can also do parties sweet 16s and bat mitzvahs type parties although mostly weddings these days.

He has a couple mixers but his main one is a Yamaha MX10 Mixer, pretty sure he also has a Alto mixer. For speakers he has a pair of Alto 10s, Alto 12s, and a pair of Harbinger MLS1000 Line Array speakers. For smaller battery powered speakers he has a pair of Bose S1 Pros and the cheaper knock off version of the Boses which are Monoprice Stage Right D1's which he mainly uses for smaller uses or quick outdoor events like cocktail hour or whatever. Mostly bc modern weddings have so many locations and stuff to set up and switch to.

For music, he mainly downloads MP3s via YouTube and use them with his Virtual DJ software for mixing and fading out. He does have a more cheaper/starter DJ controller which is a Hercules DjControl Impulse 300 but he rarely uses it as he's not that heavy into fading scratching mixing etc, he mostly does that in the laptop software. And these days he also uses a lot of Spotify and Tidal for streaming. Back then he was a huge CD guy. He still has his big case of CDs but rarely uses them anymore or a CD mixer/controller. I actually have his 2 Numark CD Mix Stations in storage. The CD Mix 1 and the newer CD Mix Bluetooth. The Bluetooth one he got in like mid 2010s and it's still like new since he basically swapped to streaming and local MP3s.

Yea currently I have a cheapo ION Audio photon LP turntable. And it came with LEDs under the table but I took the table off and literally cut the wire to them lol. This one is belt drive. I got it for Christmas one year like when I was 7 or 8. I honestly don't do much vinyl but hoping I can get more into it but a good quality turntable and also LP prices are a bit crazy. I'll stick with USB flashdrives with MP3s on them and CDs. And FM radio. Mostly for home stuff bc I've been tinkering a lot with the stereo in the basement.

Anyways got the bikes out. The bike air pump I had in the shed the valve broke on it so... Car tire inflator works just as well and much more fast. Same valve size too. Haven't been biking in a while like since 2 summers ago. Getting too tall for my orange 24. Could just use my dad's 26 but it's a old worn out one we replaced the rear tire before. Needs new front tire. Brakes are squeaky and going through the gears, it shifts super hard. Could stick with my 24 but if I do, id like to get new tires F/R, new seat, and just adjust the seat a little bit higher and should be good to go.

Moved middle daughter out of her RI college dorm for end of the semester and her sophomore year. She's half way done. Our oldest is graduating in 2 weeks from the University of Delaware. Our son, just finished his Freshmen year at Bentley Univ. One down, 2 to go!

I still have a Denon 2100 dual CD player too.

We were Rane, Ashly, EAW, RCF, Mackie...dealers. We used mostly High End Systems for moving lighting, American DJ for the smaller stuff. It was all high end gear, mostly for installs.

We had a few moblie rigs for rentals too.

Audio is fun but expensive too, like RC!

I don't think I ever knew your Dad was a dj. Cool!

Yep runs in the family. My grandpa started it. My grandpa also worked at I believe 2 radio stations in the 70s-90s. Don't remember what they were but I know one was based on Frederick MD. My uncle and my aunt on my dad's side of the family are also DJs.

I could continue with it and get into DJing when I'm older but I'm also like
1, I'm not picking up the mic, at all. Lol
2, if I do DJ, it'll be strictly my music. So you're talking about 70s-90s rock/classic rock/grunge, 00s pop/rap/club, EDM/techno, and modern metal core. Lol.

Thats AWESOME!!!
Was Gramps a mellow talk radio guy or did he have a brown learher jacket with the shirt chest always unbuttoned and drive a Corvette? Lol!

Radio dj's were really huge a few years back!

Think you'll get into broadcasting or audio somewhere too?

Now that, idk. But yes he did drive a Corvette. He had a red C4 and a silver C5. Not all at once tho. He also had some Firebird's and a old Cadillac back in the day which was a boat.

Here was his C5. I remember this the most since it was most recent.

I could. I listen to 97.9 98 Rock almost everyday here in MD. But id rather do the technical side of things like audio and visual electronics tech stuff. Or, go into the trades. Mostly warehouse stuff or auto shop/garage.

Actually, my local vintage audio shop, Just Audio, is actually hiring so I'm like, I could work there! But for now, it'll be after HS bc they have weird hours and also it's a little far.

You would leern SO MUCH at that shop!!!

I enjoyed electronics class in high school. After our familiy business closed, getting into club work was easy and fun for me.

Does your school offer any good tech classes?
