I must say I am quite disappointed with my ICE charger. Shortly after I first got it I lost one row on the display. Now a second in the same setting line has gone out too, making that line of text next to impossible to read.

I never took mine apart to do the back lit screen mod, I don't take it to a track, it charges a pack a week at most, many times going a few weeks with no charges. So it has really not gotten a ton of use.

I have a couple Duratrax chargers and they do the job although I'm not confident that they are 'great' chargers. Someday I'll pony up for a Hyperion or something but I've been talking about upgrading my chargers for years and I'm still using these average joe's.

Is it still under warranty?

I contacted Duratrax about it, told them of the problem I was having. I got a response to my email back in less than 24 hours! and not an automated response, a real person. The guy I was dealing with was great, I couldn't find my invoice from when I purchased it so he did the research on his end since I purchased it directly from Tower Hobbies and found all the info he needed. knowing it was my only charger he offered to send me a replacement led screen so I would not be without the charger. Or he said I could mail it in and they would take care of it. Outstanding customer service!

Cool deal man!.

So apart from the screen, how has it performed. Does it seem reliable in it's charging/discharging abilities?

i've always liked my ICE. i barely use most of the features but it works perfectly for me. Never had any trouble but it's good to know Duratrax has good service. I'm thinking about the backlight mod but may just hold off.

Josh, the problem with the display is the only complaint I have had with it. It charges Nimh, NCad, and Lipo. It has a lot of features, but Like Jeff, I haven't taken advantage of a lot of them.

I must say, I was VERY impressed with the quality of the customer service. I received another email from the same guy telling me the order went in and the new display should ship within the next two days, totally free of charge.

I love my Ice charger it works great, no complaints here. and I have charged numerous packs with it of all types and compacities. as well as broken in brushed motors with it.

It's definitely a very nice charger, like I said, my only complaint was the problem with the display. But now with a new display on the way hopefully that won't be an issue again.

Outstanding customer service! 5 days from the day I contacted them, to the day I had a replacement part in my hand! Now that is kick ass service! Thank you so much Hobbico and Hobby Services!

Nice to deal with companies that stand behind their products.

I've always been impressed with duratrax batteries(nimh), and this post has reminded me of a company I've been overlooking for quite some time. Duratrax left a bad taste in my mouth after I purchased a Nitro Mt about 10 years ago. Pretty weak truck, but the damn engine still runs great after all these years. It's on a megatech touring car that I think was produced sometime around 1960! Thanks for sharing this info.
