I have a Reddy Ti 10x2 and I just installed a Schottky diode and a Gp 3300 pack in my pan car.I got about 3 charges of the new pack through the motor and I started to hear a clicking sound. Then it just stopped running.I took the motor apart to find that the brush on the positive side had worn down to nearly half it's original size and the metal ring was bent??The brush on the negative side is still fine. Why did it do this?I installed the diode like the sheet said with the silver band on the positive and the motor hasn't been used much.I've only ran about 7 1500 NiCd packs on it.Also the brush that wore fast was extremely chewed up and not smooth like the other one.Is my comm toast?I cleaned it with a comm stick and it's still pretty smooth. What type of brush's should I replace these with that will give me some good top speed?

Same thing has been buggin the hell outta me a long time ago on my T3 i got it fixed tho... awhile ago.It just so happened to be the spur gear mesh. To tight.. So it put more turns on the engine and basically cooked the sob.. Loosen ur spur a lil , if that doesn't work... then sorry i dunno. bye

By the way, Educate me and tell me wtf is a diode :-p

Schotkky diode is placed on the engine terminals to help the braking power of the ESC. You must always place the diode with the white circle towards the positive end. Basically it helps improve braking and making it more consistent that is all.

I have to agree with SkYLiNe RaCeR, the schottky diode wouldn't cause that problem. There is binding somewhere in the drive system causing a large load on the motor. If the schottky diode is installed backwards it will go off like a small firecracker.

The diode is installed right and the drive line isn't binding anywhere.I think I may have had it overgeared.I was running a 20T pinion and a 81T spur with the 7x2.I swapped back to the 10x2 with the same gearing and no more problems.I ordered a 6 pack of pinions and a few different spurs so when they arrive i'm going to try it again with the 7x2.I'll be sure to triple check the mesh but I used the paper trick before.

Depending on tire size, 4 to 1 is overgeared for a mod motor.

Overgearing is a form of binding as the motor cannot move the car freely enough because of the load.
