I think we were let down by the tires. No matter! I found out that our Unlimited Class here indeed has limits; 1.9" tire. So the new 2.2 Ruptures I just bought are going on this bad boy!

They're much softer and come with a more compliant foam than the Pit Bulls.

Once I get some more bench time that'll be the next step.

I've had these since last year.

- At the indoor crawl center
- When climbs get real technical
- Looks department

I wanted to give them the best possible chance so Saturday night I left them in an overnight soak of watered down SG with a set of JCI's.

I think that's the second or third soak for the Pit Bulls so there about as soft as they'll ever be.

I have some Rockers in a 1.7 and a 1.0; they work really good! I had high hopes for these but it's okay, not every tire is great at everything.

So I got the 2.2s on. BEC installed along with swapping in the correct transmission.

I didn't have the battery in but I do expect the side to side 50/50 to come back.

Swapping the transmission and wheels changed the overall weight; it's a bit lighter but gained more front bias

Last thing is to pull the springs; they're essentially fully compressed anyway.

We are nearing the end of this project! There isn't much left to do besides repairs, maintenance and buttoning things up like lights.

I messed around with a bunch of foams and inserts last night

I had settled on these two

I tried my darndest to make the silicone inserts work; I ended up trimming two super soft in an effort to make them work.

I always ended up with an area where I had a "no contact" patch. Before trimming I couldn't get it to sit inside the tire without folding on the inner ring side.

I trimmed the outer ring off in two different ways, one along the outer second ring and one along the inside of the outside ring.

The smaller diameter didn't work, the tires suctioned to the insert as you squeezed air out of it.

In the end the two stage Vanquish foams were the right call.

This thing is epic now!

Definitely. Those were so wide. I had a hell of a time getting the wheels back together. Definitely the hardest I had to fight with beadlocks in a while.

As I mentioned I am sure there is a tire that those work perfectly with, just not those.

They're made for bigger tires for sure, they fit really well in my 2.2-2.05"x5.4" baja claws. Anything smaller and you've got to trim them which is a huge pain if you need to go narrow. There's so many crawlers that use a skinnier tire, I don't get why they haven't offered them.

I've been venting the inside sidewall instead of the tread, keeps the tire from sticking to the insert.

That's some good thinkin. I had already punched holes in the tread of those tires but thanks for showing me that.

I have another set in a 1.3 I want to mess around with. I'm going to use that method for venting.
