I’m a sucker for that color of blue. Yes prints are harder to do but you did a great job, now time for some custom nature pinstriping!
Thank you

This is my first Blue rig believe it or not. The last big paint job I did was red, another color I had never done before.

I am a sucker for grey/metallic grey, metallic green but this blue is QUICKLY growing on me.

It's a struggle to finish the body out perfectly.. I just wanna bolt it up!!!!!!

Now to get the mounted up!

Holy smokes did I learn a ton on these! They challenged everything I know about finishing and forced me to learn a bunch of new stuff, awesome!

I have a few more copies so I am excited to try it again at some point, see if I can truly make it perfect this time 😉

Huge improvement! :thumbs-up:

Thanks buddy!

The paint job looks more scale now instead of giant texture on a tiny body.

A few print lines came through but it's mainly on the doors. I am pretty confident the McCrawl rock guards should cover those.

Thanks folks! Appreciate it

Any plans for the rear panels?
They have rear panels?

I have only seen this body sold with the panels in the thread.

I feel like it needs something on the back. The cage looks so empty. Not that I won't enjoy it as is, but yeah. I can see the same thing.

As for stickers I was thinking something subtle. The brand's on the truck are SSD, McCrawl, Savox and Castle.
I was thinking some chrome/white decals above the sliders in a row, or stacking down the doors, up where they start at the fenders.

Edit:

Here we go, definitely need a few sets of these!

I didn’t read if you had a printer but they are available on Etsy also and probably on fleabay. I’m still working on a few other things I haven’t done the panels yet but want to.
Yeah you are correct, I don't have one.
Fortunately I have made friends with a guy in the scene who has launched a printing company this year. I provided him files for a similar body, his print quality was insanely high. The resolution is great and he is offering other services now like vapor smoothing.
With a service like that it is hard to justify buying one just yet. I was offering him business advice and was the first if not one of the first customers so there was a lot of growing pains.

Looking forward to reconnecting at the event on Saturday so I can discuss having the free ones printed; they go with the look better. I like those Knight Custom ones with the wrap around but they're a bit to geometrically shaped for the look I have going.

Man, patience pays off. That looks so good.
Thanks buddy! Much appreciated!

My wife says I should look into doing this as a service but I don't know if people would pay what it costs to get those results.

The RC community shocks me just about every day with what some people are willing to pay for stuff. You never know!

I got the rear fenders coming on the weekend.
Buddy sent me a clip of the sets. I don't think they will require as much finishing time LOL

I am second guessing the stock black hardware on the body panels. I changed it out on the rails and now I am unsure about the rest.

Working on the rear panels. It is really nice to work with high quality prints; the prep time so much less.

Granted I know these pieces are small and flat. But they don't have any porosity on the finish surface at all!

This is all the glaze I will be using to hide the print lines besides the high build primer.

Amazing!

They look like they were dipped in milk 🤮

Hmmm we may have to redo these.

I think humidity was high in the garage 🤬

I tried sanding one down a bit.. it improved but I'm starting over.

Update

I am controlling the humidity in the garage now with a large wheel around dehumidifier.

It said it was 71% in there when I turned it on around 7am. I am sure it was higher yesterday due to the weather 😬

My bad. I didn't think about the environment at all.

When I painted the body it was still cold out, I had the electric heat on, it was probably dry as a bone in there.

So when it comes time to laying down base coat today I will button everything up and try to lower the humidity as much as possible before I lay color down. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

You know..if only someone had installed the AC unit in the shop..for the shop.. this likely wouldn't have happened 🤦🏻‍♂️
