What do y'all think bout this?

Let's unleash the power of the titan 12t!! 🤣🙃

Since my hobbywing brushless combo is having issues, thinking about using a Tamiya esc along with either a titan 12t or a YR 13t motor. The titans are 550 while the YR is 540.

Might be more controllable on the track because with a 2wd rear motor rustler on indoor dirt with that torquey hobbywing system, if I come into the sweeper and touch the throttle just a little bit, the whole car will spin out.

If I do, I'll have to solder a xt60 plug on since I have no batteries with a Traxxas plug now.

I think you’d be pleasantly surprised with the performance. MX Acres has a series where he was racing and upgrading a bandit. Pretty sure that early in the series with just a tire upgrade he was keeping up with some of the late model kit buggies. If I remember correctly later in the series they actually formed a bandit class because everyone was so impressed.

Yea. Tried to solder a xt60 on from a Amazon adapter and it doesn't even look like it was soldered on to each other and it wouldn't budge. Cut off the plug from the old HW esc and tried to solder that. Yep nope. Letting the iron cool down for like an hour so I can switch the tips.

I've got a 550 14t brushed motor ran one time. Won't fit in the Boomerang gearbox. Snout is too long. Got the 23t Super Stock RZ in there with the Gorgon 2n1 ESC on 2s lipo. Probably couldn't handle 14t anyways. Gonna hang on to it if the Reedy 16t goes out in the Ecto.

Yea. While testing just noticing how it tops out so quickly. I'll probably be passed on the straight at the track anyways. Maybe a HW justock 17.5 or 13.5 will suit the rustler. 60a esc, sensored. But not waterproof for bashing at all. Gonna see what my buddy has in his xxxt. I know he has a 17.5 in for vintage racing

What kind of run times are you looking at?

"Going back to brushed - maybe not lol"... About what I said when I tried to relive "the good old days" of RC. Those Yeah Racing Hackmoto brushed motors were good for a while, then the heat came into play. I tried a couple of them on a stadium truck because it seemed like a good cheap thing to get my truck up and running. I feared to run them past six minutes. No matter how much gearing change I did, the heat was always there. I then decided that I'd never go back to brushed motors.

I'm not sure if my Yeah Racing motors were the v2 or not.

What do you mean by "Since my hobbywing brushless combo is having issues..." ? Is it the motor? Is it the ESC? Is it Both?
No idea
Fixed it for like 2 runs and the problem came back.
Motor cogs out and dies at random

Don't have any spares. Just gonna go with quick run combo. Best that there is for the money.
So, do you think you're going with a sensored setup? I was just curious, because of the $18 price difference of the Justock and Quicrun combos.

Not sure. Either a justock 17.5 or 13.5. or a 10bl120 G2 4000kv. I want a good combo for both bashing and for the track.
You know what, maybe some throttle expo in the radio can help

A quality 13.5T system would be the way to go, that 10BL120 is great!

What you really need to do is invest in a sealed gear diff and tune your slipper.

If I was going to race a Rusty, I would do everything TheJANG did here as a bare minimum:

I can't stress the importance of tuning the slipper:
