Hello rock crawlers! I have built many trail trucks (TRX4, Enduro, SCX10, RC4WD, VS4-10 Pheonix) but have never built a dedicated crawler. I saw an Element Comp Fox kit at my local hobby shop the other day and it has sent me into a downward spiral... I would love to build a dedicated crawler, and it is between those three. I have built many kits. I usually build them, get bored eventually, trade or sell them, and then build more. The only two crawler style rigs I have left are the TRX4 sport kit that I put locking diffs on and an Axial Ryft. Thoughts?

I have some piles of rocks amongst some other obstacles I want to build into a crawling course

the fox is so new no one on the forum has any real life info n it sadly. we got @Doom! one but he has been too busy living life to build it i believe, soo he will have a greaat post about em. till then it seems like we are in the dark. @MVRCA is probably building one, i know for sure he has valuable info on the subject, hoping to summon him but I'm not sure i have the right equipment for the ritual

Howdy guys, been busy with work travel. As for the original question, they are all good kits and quite fun to build. The VRD Carbon kit will perform the best when comparing kits alone.

That Zuul body looks really nice on that thing. Is it a straight drop in in the VRD Carbon?

Wow! After watching that Youtube video I am leaning towards the VFD Carbon

Dude, that just looks knarley cool man.

The Zuul body fits the truck just about perfectly, matching the wheelbase just right. I tweaked the sliders to better match, but really a properly set is to be nailed down.

Here is a better photo of the bent OEM sliders.

Another thing I like about the VRD is that if you get stubby transmission, you can mount a low-profile servo to the front axle, hanging it off the back like the image shown.
