I bought an Axial brand SCXPro kit. And it was so crappy I had to buy a metal transmission case and grind parts to make it work. And I decided to buy the amazon SCXPro chassis to see if it was better than the Axial one. And it was. Then I tossed these cheap axles on there. Added some bearings and shims. And it works just fine. It's a good truck for trails. And it does crawl well. Just need to finish the body. The other one is built. Just haven't used it yet. The Axial Pro kit is not a quality kit. The aftermarket generic is better. 😔 pretty cheap to make.

My SCX10 Pro kit had mis-machined axle tubes. I set pictures of them to horizon hobby and the promptly replaced them. Other than that my kit went together really smooth and works well. Other than the axle tubes needing replaced I felt like the quality was spot-on.

You titled the thread as a comparison between the Pro and an Amazon build but don't show us the Pro or give us any details other than "it's crap". Help us understand! I want to know more about why you had to use a different trans and grind stuff to make it work. That's the wildest complaint I've ever heard about the SCX Pro kit.

The defects were the shafts were not faced so I had to grind them. The cutoff point wasn't right. The transmission case was warped. Had to replace it. And once I did that it worked. I suspect the plastic injection was at the wrong temperature and I feel like the shafts just slipped past QC. Had to buy the generic kit just to see the difference. With the plastic housing nothing would turn if you tightened the screws down.

To get this truck to work i added OGRC reservoirs. A new transmission case. And I ground and reworked the shafts to spec. Injora S5 compound. The extra batteries are just for weight to make the suspension cycle better. Flip top. Meus drive shafts. Its a good trail truck. But the plastics sort of mid. OGRC shocks are pretty cool.
