XL5 model I've had for years. Changed and or replaced lots over the years. Thought I remember it having small amount of rear toe in. I've changed from RPM back to traxxas control arms. Even both styles, one with the X frame and the lateral frame. I've tried changing axle carriers from RPM and traxxas and aluminum. I know it's nonadjustable toe but I was curious if I had mismatch parts. I need to see some rustler pics from above to compare. I know its a different animal, but i have the nitro model and its toe in is probably 2 degrees. Very noticeable. My 2wd slash has noticeable rear toe in. If i measure between front and rear of rear tires on this rustler, squeezing the "toe slop" together, i can barely get equal measurements, or "0" degrees. It freely lays at 1/8" difference, toe out. This thing is all over the place and cannot be controlled well unless it's on grass maybe. I'm wondering if this is why. I have 7 other trucks so I do have experience driving RCs. What gives?

Welcome to RCTALK.COM!
I can't say for sure, I dont own a Rustler.
No damage? Bent pins?
Are there removable 'pil's that you can adjust the inner or outer pins with?
Just ideas!
I hope we'll see some more of your rigs too! 👍

Thanks all. Nothing adjustable. The mounts are part of the transmission case. Not like the nitro. Labeled L and R and are on the correct sides. Talon tires don't help on hard dry dirt either. Was wet and almost too muddy a few days ago and perfect

Check the degree on the mounts. They make several versions that vary between 0 and 2 degrees I believe. If they are not 0 try flipping them left to right.
The nitro yes. The electric is molded with the tranny as one. Aftermarket tranny will have the option like the nitro ones though. I think rpm or proline and flm do the nitro version.

Welcome to RCT.

The picture looks like it's got a little bit of toe in? and it should be toed in it adds to stability.

I would pull the wheels and make sure they are not mounted wonky, I've had that happen. Also check your camber, that can give the illusion of toe angles.

How are you measuring the toe?

The 2wd rustler has 0° of rear toe from the factory. Biggest complaint I have about my rustler, makes it handle horribly. I’m pretty sure Traxxas did it originally because of how gutless the 20t stinger was and they wanted it to be able to break the rear tires loose… unfortunately, they never decided to add any rear toe after the 90’s 😂

You can add slash 2wd or nitro rustler rear arms to add toe in. Once you do that, you’ll need nitro rustler wheels or similar offset wheels for the rear, otherwise you’re super narrow.

Weird I thought I remembered more, but it seems it is definitely out by 1/8". Maybe my transmission arm mounts have bent. They're not sloppy, but original. I put the RPM camber links back on to reassure proper length. I'm measureing the inside of the wheel at front and back, rotating them randomly and freeing any tension. Battery is in, at normal ride height. Thanks everyone. I love to tinker, but I love to drive good too!

I don't think the rear toe-in is adjustable as the inner hinge pin/arm mount are molded into the tranny gearbox. I'd just run it.
Oh, and the "if Evil Kinevil had a SCT" paint scheme

... that's just plain awesomeness!

I might be mistaken but from the factory the Rustler and Stampede have zero degrees of toe out in the rear. Kind of odd that it has toe out. Maybe a defect in the gearbox?
You are not mistaken. Neither of my Rustlers has any toe in/out.

The nitro models did though didn't they? I cannot remember.

Nitro rustler had toe in from the factory. You can use nitro rustler or slash 2wd arms to add toe to an 2wd electric rustler.

I don’t see negative toe in OP’s photo. It looks like 0° to me…
I'm glad Jojo remembers because its been 12+ years since I've owned a nitro Rusty. :)

It still baffles me that after all these years, traxxas still hasn’t added toe to the rustler vxl/xl5. They have the parts to do it, it wouldn’t cost them anything 😂

I understand why they didn’t in the 90’s since that 20t stinger needed all the help it could get to break some tires loose.
