Hey everybody...
I have several RTR cars and trucks of various types and brands. I don't have an on-road car but would like to add one to the stable. I have the itch to build an on-road car from a kit. This will be my first build.
I used the search function on the forum but didn't turn up any results. I'd like to have the input of you builders out there for a decent, reliable on-road build kit. Probably 2-3 cell lipo, 4 wheel drive, brushless motor, esc, bearings. Doesn't have to be a speed demon, maybe 35-40mph. It's going to be a car to have fun with on parking lots etc.
If you would please give me some recommendations, ideas and experience I sure will appreciate it. Thanks.

There are quite a few out there that I remember seeing, but not much of an on-road guy myself. I do have a couple TT-02's from Tamiya, and can honestly say they are the worst RC cars I have ever built in the nearly 40 years I have been in the hobby.

The Kyosho Fazer seems to be a decent looking kit, but I have no experience with them.

The Traxxas 4-Tec is another I have looked at, and may grab someday.

Serpent, Xray, and Mugen have some more higher end stuff. It really depends on your budget.

I'm posting two links. I am looking for a nitro and electric to fill the spot of my Rs4s.
This is a Tamiya tt01. I want to say post 11.

The second is the Kyosho above.

Traxxas has 2 4tecs, I think the 3.0 is the larger.

Hpi wise, look at hpi parts before buying one. I actually like the mid range Hpi, the e10 is too low budget for my liking. Alot of the hpi and Ae tc are gone.

As @WickedFog said, it all depends on your budget, but, there are so many companies making on road kits out there, including HSP, Tamiya, Mugen, Xray, Spec-R, Traxxas, Yokomo, Kyosho, 3Racing, Serpent, and different classes of cars (touring car, drift, speed runs, rally), that it is easier to pick a couple brands and specifically ask about those. Now, my personal pick for decent and reliable, Kyosho, Serpent, X-Ray, Mugen, and 3Racing. HSP are good cheap beginner cars, but, need certain upgrades right from the start, and have limited parts support, so you really have to know what you are doing to build something decent that wont be a headache. Tamiya cars are hit or miss. Some turn out to be decent and dont need many upgrades, others are barely useable after way too many upgrades, and some just need nearly constant maintenance. If you are just looking for something to build to learn on, i would suggest going through eBay and Amazon, and looking at some of the under $150 kits. They have them from 3Racing, Sakura, Yokomo, and others, and you can even get complete chassis kits with aluminum and carbon fiber upgrades already included. They do make "upgraded" Tamiya carbon fiber and aluminum chassis for the TT-01 and TT-02, but, avoid them, unless you want either constant maintenance (TT-01 has aluminum diffs that wear out somewhat quickly), or something that even after upgrading may never be right (TT-02 has steering issues, and, even after upgrades still isnt always right), and Tamiya upgrades can get pricey quick.

EDIT: Something i forgot to mention, Sakura and 3Racing, which i actually think are the same company, are belt, not shaft drive, and the belts can be pricey at times. There are several others that are belt drive as well. These are the next 3 kits I'm looking at getting: https://www.ebay.com/p/4039056211?iid=265402858793 https://www.ebay.com/itm/3Racing-KI...807?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTabs_0 https://www.ebay.com/itm/124428217251?epid=7042868847&hash=item1cf87feba3:g:T6EAAOSwDaBfpd5N (i have never owned a front wheel drive, so I'm getting it just to have one,

Hey biggman...
Yeah I kinda like the kyosho car kits to start off with. Reasonable price. I'm looking forward to building. I've tinkered with and upgraded all my rtr's so it's a good time for a first build.
I'll keep browsing. Thanks for responding.
