Hi all,

New here and to RC.

Working on a Gorgon brushless upgrade using the DX3, SR6200a, and SPMXSE1130.

I can get the transmitter to bind, calibrate, control throttle and steering and even get a good ESC calibration. It took 3+ hours but I got it.

The problem I'm having is posted absolutely no where from what I can tell. My DX3 is blinking green and red forever and beeping and chirping non-stop. I'm ready to smash this thing into a million pieces and avoid all Spektrum products forever based upon the completely useless manual. According to the DX3 manual there is no beeping or chirping and that alternating red and green lights isn't even a thing.

Has this happened to anyone else before?

Never heard of such a thing. But I'm not a fan of RTR radios. Crack it open, yank the light and speaker if you can't figure it out. I would say call Horizon and ask them what the heck it's doing, but they are generally clueless. On the other hand, they will probably ship you a new radio. Or you could go grab a Flysky GT3B.

Welcome to RCT!

Welcome to RCTALK.COM!!!
Sorry to hear about your troubles! Does the truck do any tricks while this is happening???
I could give you a bunch of other reasons to "avoid all Spektrum products forever based upon the completely useless(ness)."
If you're stuck on a Spektrum because of the 2 in 1 esc, jennysrc.com is prob the best, cheapest place I can think to go.
Otherwise, Flysky and HobbyWing that BEAST!!! 😎👍
Don't get caught up in Spektrum. Its a trap. 😉

WELCOME TO RCTALK.COM!!!👍😁

Welcome to RCT!
I actually hooked up a Radio link RC6GS but that seems to either have the worlds worst voltmeter telling it 6 fresh 1.5V duracels are 6.7V and screaming at me (muted it in settings).
I'm just losing my mind with this complete non-sense.
I even have the gyro working with the Spektrum stuff but the transmitter is screaming nonsense.

Try different batteries, just to be sure. You might have gotten one bad battery. It happens
Replaced all 6 batteries. Going to have to crack out the multimeter and likely buy another transmitter and receiver for my son's upgrade. Not appreciating the low standards for quality or even basic functionality.

This DX3 garbage makes me wish I went Hobbywing from Amazon instead of Spektrum from JennyRC.

Oh, you actually bought that radio from Jenny's? Is it new? Jenny's will fix you up if so.

The DX3 is from Jenny's. Just emailed Ted (he's the best.) I'm happy to keep the thing if I can resolve the issue. The DX3 while having a heart attack feels more responsive and more solid than the Radiolink.

Which Flysky model would you recommend? And for Hobbywing 10BL120s is it best to go sensored or sensor less WP?

Looking at the Flysky FS GT5 for the gyro receiver (can't learn to love or hate it if I don't have it right?)
I looked at the 10BL120s but I ran into a question of needing to learn to soldier connections and went the way of Jenny. They sent me the wrong motors but that was clearly a mistake and Ted is taking care of me. (In case he is on here... Go Birds!)

I would contact Jennys for sure! Never had an issue with Jenny's. Very easy to contact and work with too!
I went with a Spektrum esc because I owned a DX4 radio already.
Now the receiver is junk.
I don't like how the radio feels. Overall, not happy.
Esc and programmer are still fine.
Even bought a few Spektrum motors that are ok. They need bearing replaced or they wont be fine for long! 🤣
I think Spektrum makes good rtr stuff. Not sure about air. I will not buy from Spektrum again.
Better brands out there for same or less money.

Try bind at about 3 feet away from the RX. And the antenna is as long as possible. The extra length of the antenna wire, put to one side, away from the other wires in the RX box.

I think I might try playing with that more. I tried standing on the opposite side of the room on a test set up using a 100 amp spektrum ESC the SR6200 and the DX3. The good old second day college try. I still don't know what all the flashing red and green on the DX3 means. Factory reset doesn't seem to stop that flashing either and it returns with or without a bind, after bind and calibrate, and when not even connected to anything. Beeping the entire time.

Started with that mistake I have it flat on top of the Gorgon chassis. I wonder if it didn't properly calibrate due to vibrations or something strange but after bind and calibration I have steering and throttle control.
Not 100% sure if I'm power cycling the transmitter and receiver correctly post calibration or if that is even related to what is going on. I would have expected the blinking and beeping to stop after a factory reset but it keeps going.

All other ports were open. The strangest part is that I could go drive the truck around but it would be flashing red and green while beeping.

Would using or not using any of the other ports cause an issue?

It might. Some of the Spektrum RX need 1&2 open if they are AVC capable & in use.
