Glad to hear the #16’s are working out for ya over there homie. 🤘
Yeah, if not for you bringing that jewel of a tip to my attention I would have already wadded these bodies into balls of crumpled lexan.

I felt the same way about ‘em after giving them a whirl. The #11’s still serve a purpose for me, but the #16’s are a massive help in most situations in the LM dept. especially.

They keep me from cutting too deep too. I am still scratching the lexan, but it is just a scratch. Impossible to avoid I think.

Definitely. The only think that helps with that is eleventybillion hours of doing it.. There are a lot of folks that brush the LM on a banana and go to work.. 😅 Too much loot for this poorboy…

Its looking AWESOME so far!!! Nice job! I would struggle with the cuts!!! 😍😍😍
The hardest ones was the window trim, and headlights. Nothing to guide the knife other than my crooked Sharpoe lines. Same with the depressions in the hood, which will be getting a fade sprayed around it.

I don't think my hands would allow me to freehand like that.
This looks like a tough paint job for sure!!! 😎

The cuts you did on the window trim look great! Good to know about the #16 blades. I did that 1/24 body with the #11 and it was tough. I may grab some #16s for my next one. I still cut too deep too, I don't know if I'll ever get that right. I always wonder when folks vinyl wrap cars, how the heck they keep those blades from cutting too far. Practice I guess...

The #16 will help keep you from cutting too deep. It only takes very light pressure to cut the LM. Just barely dragging a brand new blade across it cuts it enough to pull it up.

Wings are ready for some white paint. Not as purdy as I'd hoped, but they will do.

Body is ready for the front end paint, which will be a couple different shades of purple via candy and pearl coats. Just gotta peel all this damn mask.

Didn't get a pic of everything after the black was all finished, but the pipes back here for whatever reason seem to be the "chromiest".

More to come.

Yup! I plugged 'chromiest' into my word-maker-upper2000 and it checks out! 🤣

Those wings look SICK!!!! WOW!!! 😍😍😍

This is some next level paint right here!!! 🤯

I know you wanted that Pinto body. I love it too but VW BUG BODY IS ROCKIN!!! ❤️😎👍

Thanks Mike. Hopefully it all looks good when it all comes together. I am going to attempt some more craziness with the rest of this. Purple is going down today.

The Pinto body is for another build.

It is/was the only 11.25" wheelbase no-prep body out there. The only bodies they have now are 13" wheelbase, which will not fit that build.

I can't wait to see it!!! 😍

Purple shadow effect applied to indentations in hood. Took a break trying to decide what to do with the front end, but I have a game plan now.

The indentations will next be sprayed with a Spaz Stix color shift paint, which is an enamel. That requires the acrylic fade to be fully cured, so I am going to move on to the SCT bodies until the purple is cured, which takes a couple days. I'm not taking any chances now.

Sounds like this is going to be a banger!

Looking freakin great so far!

As someone who sucks with liquid mask...I appreciate this picture so much lol. Great work so far.
It's not bad really. There are tricks to it. Like I said, thicker is better. So if brushing it on, use a good brush. Not synthetic. Actual horse hair works great. Make sure you put down at least 6 coats. And when cutting, the Xacto #16 stencil blades will help you cut a much straighter line, and keep you from cutting too deep. When cutting with these blades, it almost feels like the liquid mask is pulling the blade into it. So you don't really even need any downward pressure. That's not the case with the standard #11 blades. I used liquid mask a lot back in my slot car days. I always sucked at cutting it out. Corners not cut cleanly, cutting too deep, etc. Not now. So give it a shot with the #16 blades and see if it isn't a game changer for you as well.
