my cleint just bought a apartment unit for 600,000 grand he moved here from cali. he looked around and searched the market for months to find a place that would accept his cat in which he had for a few years since his wife died...he had it qurrentine for 3 months here in hawaii so anyways the deal is closing next week in which i start the major remodel.. so we went and reserved the elevator for work were doing and he ask about where to exit with his cat...he dont move in till renovations done then the resident manager told him NO PETS ALLOWED....well i guess the managment co. gave him a old set of by-laws in which they used to allow pets now they dont.....his heart is broken...what would you do??? i really feel for him

He needs to show them the set of papers that were given to him and signed. If they were signed he is grandfathered in if not he can sue them for the right to keep it based on the papers he was given saying this was the primary reason he purchased this unit.

I'd just sneak the cat in. For 600 Grand he should be allowed to keep an indoor pet. Whats the big deal, it will not bother anyone else.

they are actually going to do both they are retaining a attorney and he said hes going to sneak it in and no ones coming in his unit....i dont blame him

yeah, that sounds kinda shady. I hope all works out well for him. Just another example of people (business in this case) not wanting to take responsibility for their mistakes.

Yeah... we live in an apartment and the landlord was very animate about not having cats. I asked why and she went on and on about stupid people doing stupid things like trying to flush the litter, letting the cat piss and crap all over and such...

I've had the same land lord for 10 years. I've lived in three of her apartments. We've had cats for 7 of them. Her sister has seen them (she lived accross the hall), her son (handi-man #2) has seen them and her son-in-law (handy man #1) has seen them. She hasn't personally seen them I don't think, but she has to know we have them. All three of the people that are related to her have repeatedly stated how clean our apartment is and how good tenants we are.

But, we aren't buying the place. For $600K, they should let him breed monkeys in there!

If I can keep a ferret from stinking up my place I think anyone can keep a cat from trashing it.....besides cats are pretty clean animals, I can't see how people let them turn trashy, it's just from being lazy and not cleaning up the litter box......my landlord just doesn't allow dogs...mostly for insurance reasons.....

And dont forget to tell him to tape his cat meowing so if anyone hears the cat he can claim it was the tape.
