I have a tamiya racing fighter with Etronix EX4gt combo. Which I bought as a kit. Yesterday I noticed that when I turned off the transmitter before turning off the car. The revs shot to max and the car sped off. I cannot find any instructions for the transmitter/ receiver. I dont think this has happened to me before. I have searched the net. there is a lot written about this and that you should always turn the receiver off first. But most of these threads are 4-5 years old. This makes me wonder whether this issues was solved with later kit. It also makes me wonder if the car has a failsafe and what happens if the rc link is lost.

Any help appreciated, Thank you

Turning off the car first before turing off the radio is still standard. And the same with turning on the radio first and then the car.

If that radio has a failsafe and if you set it up it might work, but unsure.

As said above; NEVER turn off power to the transmitter prior to the receiver.. 🤷🏻‍♂️😅 Fortunately that falls under operator error, and not the manufacturer, so it’s easily corrected.😉

Have you checked your paperwork for fail safe procedure? That’s something I always do prior to running, as I don’t trust a manufacturer to have done so. Higher end stuff is always that way, but RTR, or lower quality rides/equipment are about 50% as far as that goes. 🤙

In the manual...

@cimh , everybody mentioned turning the car off first then the transmitter
simply because when you turn off the transmitter first, nothing is telling the receiver what to do so your
car will have a mind of it's own. ;)

Just like small parts on toys will get the choking hazard age-appropriate warnings, I'm pretty sure all RTR RC platforms, and/or radio manuals will have something printed about what safety precautions to take to avoid signal losses, and the risks involved. Unless you are sick, nobody wants to see a human/pet/property get injured or ruined.

I know back in 5th grade when they separated the boys, and girls, to talk about life/growing up... the boys got the "don't ask for directions", and "you don't need a manual" talk. Who would have thought one day they'd be sitting on a floor putting furniture together.

Read the darn manual.

I had a hobbywing system do this to me once, I had to recalibrate it but really, I should have turned the car off first. To recap on already mentioned notes, recalibrate the tx/rx if applicable, set the failsafe if applicable, always turn the car off first.

Thank you all - I emailed Etronix and they came back to me straight away with instructions to set the failsafe. While I understand the advice about car off first. I suspect that this reaction will not happen one the failsafe is set as surely turning off the TX is pretty much the same as the car going out of range or the TX dying for some other reason. if so it may be a good way to test failsafe is working? I will report back.

So having set the failsafe. If I turn off the Tx first this does not happen. So in my case this was a good sign that the failsafe was not set.
