my friend really wants a RTR electric car, can i get one for less then $130 and where?

Check towerhobbies.com Not to be funny, but if tower doesn't have one there is always toys r us.

Here are a few possibilities...

HPI Dash

Tamiya QD Series

Those should do fairly well and stay in your budget. I did notice that the HPI car did come with pretty much everything except batteries for the transmitter....

I really don't know of any electric 1/10 cars or trucks that are below $130. There's always the Mini-t. That retails for about $150 and that's a 1/18 scale.

Honestly, radio shack and toys r us are the only ones that sell r/c's at that price range, and they're nothing close to what an LHS might sell. Basically, you get what you pay for.

EDIT:

Whoops, looks like candyman found some worth looking in to. Try those out.

yea how about the traxxas rustler for $130, any good

The Rustler would be a good bashing stadium truck. I just didn't include it because I stuck to on-road. If you're looking off-road, the Rustler wouldn't be a bad first basher. Or maybe the Stampede. Is this person thinking of racing at all? If so, he might want to seriously consider upping his budget a bit (quite a bit...).

The Rustler and Stampede both run right at $160. $130 is a tough price to hit when asking for a hobby-grade RC.

I would not recommend the HPI Dash, while it is in your price range, it really is a toy. There is nothing upgradeable on it, and if you break it, you can't get parts to fix it. Save a little more and get something that will be better in the long run.

Have you included the price of batteries and a charger in your $130 price range ? Even with cheap bashing batteries and your basic entry level charger, you might easily exceed $130. Another option might be ebay, if you don't mind something used. Good luck though.

You need at least 2 7.2V stick packs: $15 each. Cheap charger: about $37. That's going cheap, and you're looking at around $70 extra right there. The reason I say 2 batteries is because if you only get one you'll burn that sucker up fast, charging and running it back to back to back........

I just picked my son (he's 5) up a Stampeded for x-mas from www.ultimatehobbies.com for $129 shipped. This is with the MSC. Of course you would still need batteries and a charger. This is the cheapest I have found it anywhere. There fairly cheap on everything. I also bought my Savage25 from them.

As you probably know,

CHeap/Good RC car is often a big ass oxymoron...lol.

I'm very impressed with some of the Hpi "entry level" cars but I personally prefer the offerings from Taimaya. Not to mention that Taimaya has some of the most bad ass looking stock bodies on the planet.

Peace
