The big problem is it quickly becomes a money game... If you want to win, you have to spend.

Maybe at a big level that's true. But at local levels, most can't drive their rigs worth a crap. Generally the driver that's smooth and in control wins the majority of the time.

This is also true at a big level... and if there was only one who could drive smooth, perhaps they could win with a budget brand. The problem.is they are not alone, so then it becomes a money race too, in order to gain that last fraction of a second off their lap times.

I will forever hate the electric jato no matter how much anyone tries to convince me otherwise

They already renamed the stampede, the hoss back to the stampede, and the mudboss. Time to fix the jato!

It would make sense if it was called the bandit 4x4 since the bandit is the only one in the 10th scale size that doesn't have a 4x4 option and is only currently in 2wd.

Hi everyone, I learned about this Traxxas sort of 1\8 buggy and i learned they are planning to release a VXL version early 2025 which is supposed to be a track race able one.

This one, Which they are advertising as an entry level racing buggy but at best is a basher platform and any knowlegable person would know that there are better setup and equipped true 1\8 and 1\10 based buggies on the market. The vibe i get from this release is Traxxas is clearly unaware that the Sledge platform exists is also blind to what else is on the market and living life like it's still 2012 - 2014. And the nail in the coffin for this one is it's based off a very outdated patform and they expect it to perform like a true 1\8 buggy. Sorry i just had to.

For $350 (BL-2s) to $530 (VXL) But honestly i would rather have a base model 6s blx Typhon for $500 or $630 for either an RTR TLR Typhon or the new Losi 8ight-XE RTR as this unfortunate use of a supposed legendary name. This reminds me of when Chevy named a modern ugly compact suv the Blazer after the legendary S-10 and K-5 ones of the 60's 80's to Early 90's. I have been on a downward trend with Traxxas and their company as well as their products i remember a time where Traxxas was almost at the top of their league From 2008 to 2017. And i've owned more than 15 Traxxas vehicles and i've slowly moving away from their products and starting to buy more Arrma, Losi, Team Associated recently. Especially since the issues i had with my XO-1 and my 2nd X-Maxx this year compared to my Arrma's i've talked about selling some of my Traxxas rigs and moving on to other brands like as i said Arrma, Losi and Team Associated as well as a couple of small Chinese cars but nothing else moving forward. It's clear to me Traxxas is starting to lose their way to appease and appeal their corparete managers and investors when in reality they will eventually get left in the dust by Arrma and the many other big name RC companies in the world. Sorry it's just how i feel about this release.

I think they are more interested in seeing spec racers buy them. They are smart enough to know the Jato 4x4 is not competitive among the Tekno, etc. racing lineups.

With SCT popularity tanking, the Slash just doesn't get the budget minded folks' attention like it once did... but a 4WD buggy just might.

Time will tell, of course, but all the other logistics are already in place, being that the new Jato 4x4 shares most of it's parts with the Slash/Rally/Rustler/Stampede/Raptor R 4x4s

I can see this being a possibility for the BL-2s version to be an entry level spec racer. But maybe not the VXL version especially for $530 when a 6s Typhon can be had nowadays for $500 and will most likely have way better electronics than the new Jato having typical Traxxas RTR junk. Most of Arrma and Losi's newer vehicles have Hobbywing based esc's whereas Traxxas' stock electronics are mostly over proprietary as well as failure prone and are also designed to be used with their s**t batteries and chargers. Personally i haven't had many issues with stock Traxxas electronics but i feel with some of their higher end vehicles they should either bring back their partnership with Castle or start a new partnership with Hobbywing like every other company like Arrma, Losi, AE, Redcat and Team Corally does.

If the Jato didn't have racey-wheels on it I'd just write it off as an Arrma Typhon/Team Corolla compeititor, that being said...

1. The plastic GTR shocks are interesting, maybe we'll see more of those on lower level 4x4 models vs the old ultra shocks?

2. Not a fan of a 1/10 platform trying to be a 1/8 buggy. I don't expect it to be too durable, which is what it really needs to be whether if its a basher or a racer.

3. My $50 WPL D truck "toy" has adjustable toe and camber, yet this expensive parts bin "track machine" has fixed links. "Engineered for Drivers", really?

4. Using a 2075 servo and remote without dual rates in a $300+ RC feels like a cruel joke (especially in the VXL model). They're fine in a bare bones 2wd model.

People will still buy it because it says "Traxxas" on it, and throw RPM/Integy/STRC parts at it as needed. I don't mind the "Jato" name, I just think that it's poor value.

I think there may be value in it as an “entry level” racer just to get people into the scene, performance wise on track will determine how successful it will be as a recommendation though for racing beginners though

From what I know the BL2 "entry level" model tops out at 25mph (which is slower than a brushed Rustler), the VXL will be quicker but it's in the price range of better models.

I'm not sure what you expected from a LCG Slash 4x4 with different shock towers-body-wheels/tires.

The Extemreme Heavy Duty components are a good upgrade over the old stock bits, and the GTR shocks are a plus.

If it gets the buggy lovers in the door, I'm all for it.

Plastic on BL-2S, but aluminum on VXL

I'm not a fan of the BL-2S models. I understand their thinking (I think), but I am not in the demographic they are marketed to.

Someone was running the Jato 4x4 in Buggy Intermediate D-Main and bumped into the C-Main at Motorama.
