oh? then tell me why the heck they said it was IDEAL for the emaxx when it was advertised and released years ago? he ran it on 6 cells, and novak ADVERTISED that it was an excellent choice for the maxx. The whole reason he bought it is because of the torque it advertised. So no, it wasn't something he did that was stupid. It was STUPID of NOVAK to advertise it that way.

The brushless system Novak made for the Maxx is the Novak HV, not the 5800. I bought a 5800 when they were released and never read where it was even usable in a Maxx.

BTW I am being nice, if I typed what I really though I would get banned.

Novak put ads in rcca and IRC magazines when it first came out that it was for the maxx, stampede, and kyosho's older monsters, WAY before the HVmaxx system even came out. The whole reason they came out with the HVmaxx is because they were dead wrong with their first system.

Why do you think they have been selling so many "refurbished" 5800 systems years ago?

I never saw where the 5800 was advertised for the Maxx line, but maybe I missed it. But, is it was said to be used for a Pede and a Maxx, that should tip people off that they are two different animals and need different motors!

So what traxxas products are they using this for? Rustler,Pede and thier touring car?

have you seen the prices yet for these VXL car/trucks? 487 for the rusty, 504 for the stampede, 479 for the bandit. Just a hair priced outta their correct range lol.

Brushless xxxt comes at 380 LOL

What was the release date for the SS5800 system? I have a few years worth of RC mags I'd be willing to dig through. My recollection was that the 5800 was intended for touring cars and lightweight 1/10 off roads.

Street prices and manufacturer suggested retail prices are two completely different things. Example the Mugen MBX5R MSRP is 1099, but the street price is around 600. The VXL line will sell for much lower than $500.

Well, that price may change since its "order pending". If the prices stay that way....they will be collecting a LOT of dust on the shelves........

pulled from the Traxxas forums

stormerhobbies.com has street prices listed! The VXL system is listed at $199.99, the bandit and ruster are 349.95, and the 'pede is 359.95. Not too bad for RTR brushless and a beefy foundation on which it is situated. I'd say tower may be like, 5 bucks cheaper, maybe 10 at the most. So let's do some thinking here; say with a tower promo (like 25 off 149.99 order or more), you can have a VXL system for like, 185ish shipped I'm guesstimating. I think I got my mamba for 187 shipped, or not far from that. So it looks like price is pretty much a moot point for now; unless tower sells the units for a lot less. Should be fun to see how this plays out.

What was the release date for the SS5800 system?

I think it was released mid to late 2003, I'll do some digging and see it I can find out for sure

Correction, it was in late 2002 that they were released.

PFFF hahaha YA RIGHT! Like i would drop that much for a traxxas electric. Hahaha ya right. They may be brushless and all but for the money id buy another nitro. 350 ha! Lets see for that price I could get a XTM mamoth, or for 50 bucks more I could get a savage x. Or hell I could buy a Jato 3.3 for like 40 bucks more. I just dont see this one going over, heres why.

Newbies are looking to jump in with one foot usually,(usually mind you there are the exceptions). Like lets say a dad is buying one for his son for christmas, dosent know a thing about them, and asks the guy at the lhs whats the differnce between this one and that one. Well 200$ the clerk says, the man goes ha they look the same just give me the cheap one. Most people do not want to buy a 350$ electric at first when for the same price or a little more they can have something differnt. I know a person like my dad laughs when I tell him how much I spent on my rc18 when it was new. Most people just can't justify spending that much for something when they know any thing about it. And seeing how traxxas goes for newbies who know little about RC they just wouldnt under stand.

So there for I just dont see this taking off as big as some people do. I could argue this till I'm blue in the face but I'm haveing a hard time geting my thoughts to the key board as it is. So there for it is just my oppion dont take it serriously.

I am seeing a lot of high prices and low prices, kind of bogus really.

who knows how well its going to sell. Traxxas pretty much has a cult like following, i've never seen so many disappointed people when this came out. Not only did it come from their nitro nuts, but it also came from the electric guys as well. It can easily sway either way.

Well, I think it will sell. Heres why

Well it has most of the upgrades that ALL current Stampede owners should have. A lot of people are getting "educated" before buying such expensive "toys". The Stampede forum is always busy on the Traxxas site, so they still have a following, and new people come on board every day. Heck it PERFECT for noobs. Run and toss it in the basement. No brushes to wear out. Charge a pack and run for 20 mins(or whatever) and thats it. Not hard to maintain at all! The Pedes have always been fun/tough little trucks. Now with their shortcomings(except how narrow it is) fixed, it looks like a winner. Yes you can find lots of nitros in its price range, but comparing it to nitros it like comparing apples and oranges, two different things. I'm not here for a nitro vs ele debate!!

I'm not either but I just dont see the dad or mom that has only heard there kid say dad I want a nice rc for my birthday, doing his or her homework before hand and geting educated. Its probally differnt when you live back east and have to drive a little ways to the local hobby shop and want to know some back ground on what your driveing for. But out in California there is at least one in a 50 mile radius it seems like, and I dont see those people reading first, just going down there and saying give me something nice but cheap. I dont know only time will tell i guess.

IMO if they come with a $350.00 price tag they will have no problem selling them. People have been putting $200-300 brushless set ups in those trucks for years, sounds lilke a winning combo to me.

Hi

I've had a look at the traxxas website watched the vid but i still have no idea wat the hell it is??? A brushless motor!?(an all the other bits advertised)? If someone could clear it up that would be much appreciated cheers!

The biggest question of all remains......... Why did an article on Velenion motors get posted in General Nitro by a seasoned user? Or more to the point, why didnt he get told to move it to general Electric like a newbie would?????
Just kidding guys. VELENION ROCKS!!!!!!!
