Ok I don't know how big....but they got us all excited about a brushless motor........huh? Come on Traxxas......that is a minor release..........but anyway the official company scoop is below...and if you go to Traxxas .com and now click on the "V" on the front page it takes you to a propaganda video...

Cheers!!

The next generation of Extreme Brushless Horsepower is here, and it’s Ready-To-Race® from Traxxas! Velineon™ is the only name you need to know to achieve the tire-melting horsepower and supercharged speed you expect from brushless. Best of all, it’s brushless done the Traxxas way: wicked fast and easy to use. Just plug it in and it works. With speed potential that reaches beyond 70mph, Velineon is the new face of brushless performance. Nothing else even comes close.

Hey Talon,

Albeit a bit late to join the scene, I think this will be a good thing for Traxxas. I posted something similar in another thread about this. Traxxas cateres mostly to the hobbiest that is more concerned about having fun then racing, and with the hobbiest making up more than 90% of all RCers out there, I think it is a great thing. Sure it may not be the best BL setup out there, or the fastest, but it is a chance for the hobbiest to get there hands on a fairly new technology. Now don't get me wrong, I think the sales pictch is a bit corny, but hey if it gets someone out there who has been thinking about getting an RC to visit there LHS then I think it is mission accomplished. Like Candyman said... it would be nice if they would have included the Emaxx in their plans it would be better, but I think all in all it will be a good thing for the hobby. Just my opinion of course. Take care my friend.

i randomly went and looked at the traxxas site about 4 or 5 hours ago..and well..it was my first time seeing the new...whatever..

and i wasn't impressed

I want one, but I wouldnt spend over 200 on it. Watch it be like 270. Ha. Wonder when it will take them to hit store shelves. Will be interisting to see one in real life though.

I can't go on the traxxas site or my computer explodes..

isn't it just a castle motor? I'd like to see someone control their pede at +65 mph lol

I'm pretty sure I read that it requires a sensored motor, does CC even make sensored motors? There are pedes in that speed range and they handle about as good as any monster truck would at that speed...no turning, no sudden moves just go straight!

if they came box stock ready to rock at 60+... there wouldn't be any traxxas vehicles left in the form they came outta the box lol.

those speeds are just ridiculous. Who needs a 65 mph pede? My buddy had the 5800 series from novak in his emaxx. Second gear was never needed. Even if you tried to shift, not good on the tranny lol. But like many first generation 5800 novaks, it roasted itself to death at 7.2 volts.

If you though an E Maxx with a novak 5800 was fast you really don't have a clue! The more you type the more clueless you seem!

we didn't think it was fast. What I'm saying is that the system was so problematic that its not even funny

What we did think was fast was how fast the system fried itself. 2 days after the warranty expired.

With a brushless set-up on an Emaxx, it is first gear that is not needed there bud.

you seem to misunderstand. That motor did not have the torque to get his truck moving... it was very sluggish. We sent it into novak and they said there was nothing wrong with the dang thing. I honestly feel bad for my buddy. he used it a whopping 7 or 8 times, and reverted back to his stock titans.

The fact that he put the 5800 in a Maxx shows that he is not very bright

it was the very first BL system released to the mainstream market.

So basically you are calling someone stupid for trying something COMPLETELY new? Sometimes you need to keep your thoughts to yourself. Its pretty hard to predict how a product is going to perform when it hasn't been reviewed by ANYONE when you already bought it. So the next time someone buys something that changes the industry from its initial release... are they "not very bright" too?

This must also apply to all the wii owners that smacked their plasmas' with the 'wiimote' too, eh?

well that'll give them an excuse to purchase a better tv than a plasma ;)

But wasn't there a flaw in the strap? or was it the lack of wearing it?

He wasn't stupid for buying it, he just did something stupid with it. The funny thing is that you and he probably called it junk when it wouldn't power the Maxx to some amazing speed.

It was never intended to be used on a Maxx, the 7 cell limit should have tipped you off that it was not meant to power a truck that was designed to run on 12+ cells. I guess Novak expected their customers to have enough common sense to figure that out, they should have known better.

Sort of the same concept with R/C; run it till it breaks, then upgrade it.

I think it was a "weak" velcro that was used on the straps, but I don't remember. Could also have been just pure lazyness... Who knows. I don't have a wii... Don't plan on getting one for a couple years at least.:green-grin:

oh? then tell me why the heck they said it was IDEAL for the emaxx when it was advertised and released years ago? he ran it on 6 cells, and novak ADVERTISED that it was an excellent choice for the maxx. The whole reason he bought it is because of the torque it advertised. So no, it wasn't something he did that was stupid. It was STUPID of NOVAK to advertise it that way.

You talk a lot of trash for someone who is a "know it all". Not only that, you LOOK for a reason to talk trash. "be nice"
