axial artr electronics?

I am buying an axial artr but I am not sure what electronics to get. I am looking to spend up to $140.00 total on electronics. I do have a tower hobbies model 420 ac/dc charger(is this good enough) that is about 6 years old. I dont know anything about the electronics so I would appreciate suggestions. It will be used for backyard fun only(not to compete). Also, what are the run times for different size batteries. Thanks

I would suggest buying the axial RTC

It has decent electronics on it for backyard crawling and is pretty much the same as the artr.



DO NOT buy the RTR make sure its the RTC (ready to crawl)

With how little you want to spend on electronics I to would also recommend the Axial RTC, some guys spend what you want to spend on a just a steering servo. The charger you have will work for nicd batteries but I would not use it on NiMh batteries, and will not work at all on LiPo batteries, I would suggest a charger that at least is a peak detection charger, as for batteries I would go with some 7- 8 cell saddle packs with mounts so that the battery can be placed on the front axle to help keep the center of gravity down low which is where you want it on a crawler.

This Charger will work for you but if you ever plan on going lipo I would just spend a little more and get a charger that will charge LiPo batteries as well.
