USPS charged me almost 5 bucks to mail a letter priority mail within the USA.

I usually ship with confirmation numbers....so I'm looking for a fast, reliable service that will help bring the shipping cost down for others.

Lets see theres USPS...UPS...DHL...any others??? Who do you use???

I have not tried DHL yet

UPS: Real time tracking

FED EX Same thing but better handling. Not so sure on the price.Still more than UPS

USPS for tiny things like an envelope

DHL NEVER used them for personal.

According to a friend of mine who's worked for the USPS for over 20 years, DHL stands for Dewey, Huey and Louie.
There's also GOD. That's Guaranteed Overnight Delivery. I've never seen it on local trucks, but I see their big rigs on the highways.

Fedex hands down I ship every thing with them.. but I do use a bizz account so I get really good prices with them.. usps for a envolpe should only cost you 3.85 or so to ship priorty

I wondered what that stood for!!

I use USPS priority mail for 90% of my ebay sales, the other 10% goes to Fed Ex but only for cost reasons. USPS rates for most things are very inexpensive, especially now that they have the flat rate priority mail boxes.

I wouldn't trust a bag full of poo poo to UPS. I've had a couple bad experiences with them damaging my shipments. When they do damage something they repair it, not replace it depending on the severity of the damage. I don't know what the other shipping companies do in this case since I have never had them damage a shipment.

With USPS, delivery confirmation is free when you ship priority mail using their online postage system.

I'm disgusted with usps. I sent my MBX-4 to rushrc last friday, and he still doesn't have it. He sent me the truck DHL and it took 2 days and that was with the standard shipping. USPS sucks ass and I'm not going to send a package with them ever again.

I always find this topic interesting.
Many of you may know about 60% of my business is mail order. I ship from 50 - 200 packages a day. Some are sent UPS and most USPS due to the size and weight of my product.

I hear rants about packages getting lost and broken. In the last 12 months we have only had 3 issues with packages supposedly not getting where they were going. 1 was due to the user giving us his address then moving. The package was never forwarded and he had to go get it. 2 were confirmed delivered by USPS.

Let’s take a quick look at this. Say 100 packages a day to keep the math simple. That’s 36,500 packages in a year. With only 3, let’s say 2 issues. Why do I hear all these horror stories about stuff not getting delivered? I just don’t get it. IMO 99% of it is user error or fraud.

If a user pays by PayPal, use the shipping tool. You are shipping to a confirmed address with all the info transferred from the users account to the USPS or UPS screen. If you are not shipping from PP, Use the Online tools from USPS. It does address checking to make sure that the address is a real one. UPS does not do this but the driver usually knows the neighborhood.

Use the boxed provided by USPS or UPS. They are designed to hold up and are FREE for the asking. Use a printer to make labels, don’t hand write them. Trust me when I say doing this will increase the deliverability of your package.

Delivery confirmation by the USPS is a Federal guarantee that your package has been delivered and is recognized by both PayPal and your credit card company as proof of delivery. There will be no reversal of payments to you if the USPS says it was delivered signature or not.

I hope this helps.

i gotta agree with fast eddy on this ... USPS is the way to ship ... i also have recieved alot of stuff from fed ex and ups and prefer fed ex over ups .. new egg ships fed ex .. never had a prob with them .. usually 2 days delievery ... recently bought a drake from a dude in texas ... i am in wisconsin .. he shipped next day air on monday .. delivery notice was on my door tuesday when i got home .. drove to fed ex center after 5 . had my package in hand 2 min later ...

fed ex or usps ..

First get stamps.com - I have been using DHL now for almost all my ground items and so far I am really impressed. UPS ground to NY from Dallas 5 to 6 days DHL 3 days and for less. They are also very competive with USPS for 1 pound to 2 pound items plus you get delivery and insurance coverage for free with DHL up to 100 buck

Since being in this hobby and doing trade or sales deals I've used USPS 3 times and had a problem 2 of those times (current sale with Earp not included). I sent a fuel filler valve to vbgagnon as a freebie, wrapped in foam in a normal envelope and he never received the valve, only the opened envelope with a cheesy note apologizing for the inconvenience. I dunno if I should've put it in a box but the thing is like 1/2" long and maybe a 1/4" thick , what the heck, It didnt' need a box! Secondly, I ordered a custom made drive shaft set from RC Alloys which never showed up.. Fortunately RC Alloys was nice enough to make me another set (which I asked to be sent UPS). I received that set then about a week later I [finally] received a USPS package notice. I went to pick it up and realized that it was the 1st set. There were 3 dates scribbled on the package. Would've been nice to have received a notice about 3 weeks earlier seeing as how the time span between the first date and the day I picked it up was almost a month. Maybe I just have retards working at the local branch here.

There really isnt any reason to get Stamps.com. USPS has the same service for free and you dont have to pre purchase credits.

UPS is the slowest for cross country shipping 7-10 days coast to coast. USPS Priority 3 days. We havent tried DHL as of yet.

I use USPS, their alot cheaper than ups and fedex and i only ship priority, so it make's sense to save cash than spend more and take's more time to get there.

Depends on the size and weight for me.

If is small I will use USPS Priority with delivery confirmation. Using their online postage sevice, delivery confirmation is free as mentioned in a previous post. USPS offers a nice selection of free boxes to choose from.

If the package is heavy or large, I will use UPS using their online service as well.

Since becoming a member of eBay in 97, I have probably shipped out roughly 500 packages. Every one has reached their destination without a problem.

Great responses!! thanks all, All carriers that have been mentioned are close by. Id say within 10 min in any direction i can be at any one of them...so its not like I'm limited on that issue. I've had great success with UPS and USPS. I was HOT when USPS charged me that much to send the letter priority mail and so i thought about trying other options. Oh well..live and learn. I still wanna try DHL and FedEx too. Glad i posted i learned a lot in here. thanks AGAIN!!!!!
