Hello all,

I have a T-Maxx from around ‘03 maybe’02 that has a lot of addon’s I’ve done and a Associated MGT 4.6 that was a freebie that came with no transmitter. It’s been probably ten years since I’ve messed with these things or more and I would like to start tinkering with them in my spare time to get them up and running again. Over time and moving states and homes basically I only have the trucks left. No transmitters no batteries or anything. So step one for me would be to get a new transmitter and receivers for the trucks. Since I’ve been out of this for so long I was looking to see what is out there as far as a beginner to mid grade transmitter and receivers that would work with both trucks. The trucks both currently have the old AM 3 channel 27mhz transmitters with crystals. I don’t know much about the 2.4ghz other than it seems you can go farther with them and no need for crystals. Any suggestions on which brand or models would help for a transmitter and two receivers that would work with both trucks. Thank you all for your help!

I'm not sure about the T-max ,but you may want the 3 channel for the Mgt. as it has a reverse ,
unless you pulled the reverse gears an installed the forward only kit!

I run the Flysky's 2.4 ,they are pretty reasonable ,an some stores may sell sets of two!

My radio ,it came with two rec.s
The Ld3 is my street car ,as you can program the name of your rides in the system!

Both trucks do have reverse just so everyone knows

While the features and screen size are nice there are some things I dislike about the GT-3B. The screen is big but this makes it big and bulky. The 8aa make it forward weight biased. The 8aa battieries it eats for breakfast. After some use you will have to do the wheel bearing mod the steering wheel gets a little sloppy (look on youtube GT3B wheel bearing mod). After a few months of use mine developed a range issue I can't go more than 25ft away from me without losing signal (not the receivers FS-GT2s work fine with them). There are mods you can do to make them better but there so cheap I just don't bother.

This is only my personal experience and opinion. Other than the GT3B I like the Flysky radios.

The store cbaker65 linked nyplatform is a good store :thumbs-up:

I don't know about the steering wheel ,however ,I had to fix my throttle lever ,it broke ,but
I've already got 4 years out of the controller an it still works!
Theres also another version of those that don't have the screen ,an uses the lipo's!

It's just my personal experience as I said YMMV.

The GT-3C uses a lipo it's a semi updated version of the 3B you can mod the GT3B to use lipos.

If I had to do it all over again I would probably be using Radiolink as a budget system but Flysky stuff can just be had so dang cheap. Bonus was that Flysky (AFHDS) receivers work with Axial AX-3, TH-124, ATX 100 transmitters got them cheap ($15 or less shipped) off Ebay and work very well.

Spektrum DX5C, comes with one receiver:
https://www.amazon.com/SPM-5-Channel-Transmitter-Control-Transmitters/dp/B077TFLCH2

Another 3channel receiver for $45.
https://www.amazon.com/Spektrum-SR310-DSMR-Sport-Rec/dp/B00SJ9TP7I

Or 2 channel for $30:
https://www.amazon.com/Spektrum-SR210-DSMR-Sport-Rec/dp/B00UATIAVM

I use the SR210 with my old DX3C since all my trucks are 2 channel only.

I really like my Spektrum DX5C, it feels much better than every other radio I have.
You can get receivers that work with the DX5C for about $12US on eBay from China. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SR3100-2-4...sh=item3afcafbb6d:g:TYgAAOSwndZaTur7&LH_BIN=1 which reminds me I need like 12 of these.

Another option, that I hear great things about is the Radiolink RC4GS, 4 channel transmitter, 6 channel hv receiver with built in gyro, 10 model memory, uses 4 AA batteries and can be run off of 2-4s lipo. $51 from the US $47 from China https://www.ebay.com/itm/RadioLink-...sh=item2cdb123a6c:g:rXwAAOSwQbJblzoy&LH_BIN=1
$13US receivers https://www.ebay.com/itm/Radiolink-...sh=item2867fad82b:g:v1gAAOSwGgdbpRYl&LH_BIN=1 Or $9 from Malayasia https://www.ebay.com/itm/Radiolink-...sh=item3b195e69f3:g:RSYAAOSwpspbfupQ&LH_BIN=1

Flysky is the best way to go imo

I use the DX5C with no issues but this thread is 3 years old.
