Hey Guys,

I have an old (9 year) T-maxx 3.3 nitro. It doesn't break very well. Do I need to change a part or adjust the servo - not sure.

Also, I need to replace the shocks as they are really beat. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks as always!

The t/b servo on those weren't very good. I just recommended someone else get one of these for their savage for t/b:

The stock servo was weak (low torque), plastic geared and prone to failure. You can try checking the pads to make sure the pad material itself is still there, if not replace them:

You can also adjust the brakes by changing the linkage some by sliding the collar closer to the servo horn:

But you don't want the brake dragging when it's at the idle position.

Hwy. OK, good advice. I will look into it.
I am also noticing now that when I try to start it, depending if it's in forward or reverse, that the truck tries to move in that direct. Like the transmission is engaged. Does that sound like a transmission/clutch issue?

If it's pretty grabby, it could either be the bearings on the bell are dry/seized or the clutch spring is broken/weak letting the shoes drag all the time.

Traxxas uses the same shoes on quite a few trucks:

The bearings may be different sizes, so you will have to look at the parts list to see what bearings go with the bell that you use. For their cost, I'd replace those as well since your already having it apart.

Maybe that's for the revo or jato... looks like the 3 bells they list all use 5x11x4:

I keep spares of those on hand so any time I pull an engine (which is rare), I can replace them if they are worn.

I have noticed that the brake cap screws that hold the pads and backplates are all over the place and not adjusted correct. The correct measurement is 17 mm out from the transmission case to the back of the cap screw. if pads are worn then the brake lever won't function properly.

Sorry to respond late to this but you can put spring in between the plates to stop drag while not useing brakes and also keeps the plates in the same place after adjustment

To be honest, I never noticed brakes dragging much, or enough to be noticeable. Except on the LST with it's dual steel brakes that would get grabby as they wore down.
