I would like to hear how some other 4 tec owners prefer to set their cars up. I just bought bought my 3rd Traxxas 4 tec yesterday on e- bay. As soon as my transaction was complete, I went shopping for a sway bar kit, aluminum ajustable shocks, and the integy 3 shoe aluminum clutch shoes. Ill also take the traxxas link sysytem off and give it away. I have had a few very aggravating experieances with this radio system, so its the first thing I remove. If you want it, send me your address ,you can have it. I'm not kidding, as long as the shipping is reasonable, its yours. Next, I install a must have, imo,a full set of brand new traxxas slicks. I run on a black top high school parking lot and with this set up ,my car is real hard to keep up with . We run a, 3 to 4 turn course ,set up with cones as turn markers. Kind of looks like a 16th scale Pocono nascar track. Approx. 15 yds. wide and 40 to 50 yds long.

I prefered my 4tec disassembled and in a box never to be bothered again, I hated my tec so I can't help you with hop-ups. Post some pics or something you speak of.

The 4 Tec can be tricky to setup and will need many different setups depending on what the surface/track condition is and what tires you use.

I find that no matter how well the setup and tires, the body is one of the most important details that often is neglected. Down force on these little on roads can make all the difference between taking a turn at 30mph compared to 15mph without loosing traction and control.

Watch this video.

Those were just practice laps trying different body styles to see which produced the best results. Without a body that creates as much down force as what these are running in the video the speeds/lap times would be decreased by quite a bit.
Remove the body all together and cornering speeds/lap times would be cut drastically.

The 4Tec like I said is tricky and needs all the help it can get; you would be surprised by how much a high down force body compared to the stock body will increase the handing capabilities of the 4Tec.

I had one of the old rare 4-Tec Pro's and that thing was wicked fast. Down side was I never had a body on it so I had to be very careful with it. I would look at getting another one to play around with just for fun

Would love to bring my 4tec to your parking lot to run....think I would have something for your machine!

Dang,. Snook man....That's crazy. I am guessing this track is very sticky. What size motors are being used on these monsters? How about tires? I was talking to a friend of mine about this body issue. We are trying to come up with a mount that bolts directly to the rear shock tower ,or body mounts. This way instead of force being put on the body, than the car , it will be put directly on the rear of the car. I'm thinking about running a front wing also .
