Bought a Traxxas 4-Tec off of Ebay. Always wanted one but it has several problems that I am working through. Replaced a servo that was melted and broken. Replaced the AA battery holder. Radio seems good now. The Ez start motor does not turn. The engine itself does turn freely and compression feels good. Should I try to fix it or remove the system all together and replace with a pull cord or something else all together? Put a Tiger Gear on my Team Associated truck. Worked great. Once I fix all the problems and actually get it running I plan on upgrading to a 2.4 ghz radio from the original 27mhz radio. Any opinions or help appreciated.

2.4Ghz radio and pullstart/drillstart combo seems like the best solution to me👍 the EZ-start system just looks like an unnecessary mess to me.

I too vote get cranky with a pull start. Start stocking up on parts and be prepared to pay out the rear end for them.

replace it with a pull starter.

I'm gonna say keep it just to annoy everyone!!! 🤣
My Traxxas still have the ez start but only because they still work. Revo might get yanked because the trans is already out of it, most of the work is already done. 🤷‍♀️
When mine break, I don't intend to repair the ez start systems either.
Buy some NEW, NON-Traxxas fuel while you're at it.

Good luck and WELCOME TO RCTALK.COM!!! 😎👍😁

Continuing saga of the eBay 4-Tec. Began working on the 4-Tec again and see that the throttle is hitting and pushing on the motor for the easy start system. I am assuming a throttle adjustment might fix it? Not sure why it would be hitting the motor. Opinions please.

You should loosen the blue marked BOLT and then you should turn the carburetor in the direction of the yellow arrows: clockwise, but just enough for the throttle slider not to touch the starter motor anymore at WOT

Edit: I called it a bolt, I mean the hex nut

Ok. I will do that. I’m starting to believe this is a hodgepodge of parts put together to make one car without much care into making sure they are put on right. Thank you.

The throttle is actually hitting the ez start motor housing and not the terminals. Part of the problem is the 2 aft bolts that mount the engine to the engine mount itself. One bolt is stripped out while the other bolt is barely hanging on. When you move the servo controlling the throttle the whole engine moves. Since you can’t get engine mounts anywhere I was thinking of drilling through the 2 bolt holes through the bottom plate and just put nuts on the bolts. Making sure everything is tight.
