I was reading my towerhobbies magazine and I happened to set it down on the bathroom floor and it opened to the HPI 2 speed transmission page. I read the little sales article and it say that its the perfect upgrade for low end punch and top speed then somewhere it says, "Simply by replacing you rs4, nitro 3, or rc10t2 slipper cluthc with an Hpi 2 speed tranmission." Does this mean that there is a 2 speed for the gt from HPI?? If not does anyone know if there is an available to speed for the GT, I have heard rumors of them on other forums such as www.radiocontrolzone.com , but I have never actually seen one.
thanx

Specter - From what i have seen, that 2 speed is only for the rc10t2 which is an electric. i have not seen any gt 2 speeds available. the question to ask though, is why would u need one? i mean, a GT with the right mill will already go way faster than u could ever use, what would u need a two speed for?

finally - if u have that big of a need for speed, then check out new era model's .21 conversion option. that'll light a fire under it!

It can be done, I have pictures in his in the NT. If you want them PM me.

Steve

I was just asking. and Yes, the neweramodels .21 conversion is on my b-day list just have to wait till november till I get it and my hyper .21 8 port  I hope it hauls ass. Anyways arent 2 speeds pointless to have offroad because the one way bearings and if too much dirt get in them they become ruined??

The Gt doesn't need a 2-speed it already rips. If you want a 2 speed get an onroad car.

Steve

Sorry, I forgot to look at my PM's I'll ask my friend for the picks as soon as I see him. I am very sorry for not responding.

2 speed trans

Well some of you guys had it right, as fare as I know one has yet mass produced a two speed trans for a RC 10 GT. How do I know? Because, I have been looking for quite sometime. “That’s how I found this page.” The comment about the one-way bearings not holding up in dirt, well I haven’t had a problem yet. Some of you think that a 21-conversion kit in its self is the ultimate modification for a RC 10, I don’t think so it needs the two speed also. I can tell you from hands on experience there is nothing like the sight of a RC 10 pilling the front tires off the ground as you crack the throttle wide open and it hits second gear. Yes, I am the owner of a RC 10 GT factory team car that I have made many modifications to, such as the addition of a two speed trans and a 21. I am considering selling a 2 speed trans kit for the RC 10 in the future. Its always fun to spank a Schumacher fusion with a RC 10.

With a two speed you can gear the car for faster acceleration or faster speed, Or a little of both, are you saying you don't want that??

Geez!! I wish there was a 2 speed tranny for the GT!! I had an HPI Nitro MT Racer and I installed the two speed kit and it rocked! Sold that truck cuz I got tired of hauling around a second starter bix cuz the flywheel goes sideways.

I love my GT anyway!!!

elburro - no need for a 2 speed for an ST, i still dont know why anyone would want to install one. My GT already goes faster than i need it too.

As for the starterbox problem, just turn the truck sideways. I use the same starter box for my NTC3 as i do for my GT.

you can never go too fast. its like a car with too much gas.
But, more seriously you are right, the two speed worth much on a tight dirt track because you never get a chance to hit second gear. Although on a big open dirt track or on pavement its a blast and with the set-up that I used you can easly adjust when second gear comes in. So its very smooth and predictable.

I agree with NA on this. I don't know why anyone would want to put a 2 speed in a ST. The Losi stadium trucks with the RTR engine hauls ass!!! If you was able to put a 2 speed in it, it would be out of control. NA's RC10GT was pretty quick too. He just needs to get a real engine in it instead of that OPS engine. ;)

damn - burned! lol.

You could always has an acceleration gear. If you nail the throttle it'll take a second to go through. Set it up so right outta the corners it shifts.
