Hi everyone! Please help me decide which 1/8 electric buggy would be best buy for me.
I'm new in this hobby so I'm looking something racey rtr. I'll be running it on a clay track and budget is 500 600$ tops.
So far I've been eyeballing for Serpent 811 be, cheapest one at 410$
Losi 8ight e, stands around 560$
And kyosho mp9e evo v2 which is 550$

At first I was thinking Serpent is the way to go because of the price, but I like the Kyosho, seems like it's most race ready, best for the money. As I said, I'm new in this hobby, I'll be running it on a track, won't be racing it, at least not in the begining...
Currently I have wl toys 124019 which triggered the passion I always had kinda, being into cars and all that. My rc is small for the track so I would like to step into 1/8. I'm willing to spend some cash on product that will last me and please help me out if you have any other suggestions what would be the best choice, just write it down, tnx!

What about an Arrma Typhon 6S? https://www.horizonhobby.com/produc...-with-spektrum-firma-rtr-black/ARA8606V5.html Or an Arrma Talion 6S? That one is more a Truggy though. https://www.horizonhobby.com/produc...gy-with-spektrum-rtr-red-black/ARA106048.html or a Team Corally Radix6? https://rchobbyexplosion.com/team-c...2t00MLH-u9PKN-wnqldTdiV5W4CKBZRYaAu28EALw_wcB or a Team Associated RC8? https://www.amainhobbies.com/team-a...EBzMg3akXOivgFILlWPkc5VSFtk9GtZ0aAolGEALw_wcB
While i personally dont own any of these, i see a lot of guys, on here, and on the Arrma forum that seem to like the Typhon. Team Associated has a racing pedigree, so i doubt you can go wrong there. I know nothing about Team Corally other than what i have read online. Other folks on here may have some more insight into them though.

As for your choices, the only company there i have experience with, although with a 1/10 and not a 1/8TH buggy, is Kyosho. I have had a couple of the Kyosho Fazer vehicles, and they seem to be pretty decent for what i use my vehicles for. I bash mine hard, and have had very little bad luck with them.

The thing I hate the most about Kyosho's rtr products is they insist on using phillips screws in everything.....................

Hands down the best rtr 1/8 buggy is the HPI Vorza Flux, it is also the most expensive, but it is essentially a race kit that comes rtr, everything is machined 7075 not stamped or casted parts like the rest of the rtr buggies on the market. It is at the top end of your budget however https://www.dollarhobbyz.com/produc...YT5qwpVgvPLV2ARl2KHEKedqDzwjz8xYaApunEALw_wcB

Another good option that doesn't get enough attention is the Hobao Hyper VSe(Ofna Ultra LX3e) https://www.ebay.com/itm/HoBao-Raci...495985?hash=item1ef111d2b1:g:YDQAAOSwY-ZfNypB

Or the Hobao Hyper SSe https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HoBao-...851718?hash=item4db4908446:g:CeIAAOSwVFxfeBTb

I've always wanted an OFNA buggy, but things happened and I got caught up in other brand when OFNA became no more. Now that HoBao is making a go at things with their own distribution, possibly an 80% ARR would be an option...

A great price here: https://nitrohobbies.com/hb-vse/
Then you could pick and choice what low budget gear you want.

I do like how Hobao does this with their vehicles. Been eyeing the Hyper MT Plus II for a while now https://nitrohobbies.com/hb-mte2/

So arrmas look plasticy to be honest and in my opinion they are more park bashers, I need something more racey... same with Team Corally. On the other hand Team Associated would be great, but that is a kit car, a lot of stuff is not included, easily over 1k build.

Now you two fellas got my attention with these HoBaos
I've seen them already but kinda just scrolled past them. Even found the "budget" build on you tube, was not that budget, over 660$ at the end.
Tell me guys, I'm trying to figure out, is this kit the same stuff as Slick posted, only as a rtr vers? Seems like rear shock towers are different on pictures, and if they are the same stuff, can I choose better electronics for the price gap of 220$? Make a better package if I go kit route, what do you say?

Basically, by going through the specs, they are the same car, only, the ones slick listed are RTR, and the one Heavybag posted is a kit. With the kit, you also have to consider needing to paint the body, but, for $220 for electronics, you are still at that same 4S limit that the RTR has. If you compare the two side by side, the only difference i can see is, the RTR all the work to finish it is already done, and, on the kit, you have to do the work to finish it. Literally very part on either one is exactly the same.. This is the spec list for both cars, which is identical for each one:
Chassis: 0.14" (3.5mm) thick aluminum, gun metal gray in color with plastic side guards, rear mud guards, new front and rear chassis braces
Drive: Four wheel shaft with lightweight center shaft
Differentials: Front, center and rear bevel gear type
Battery Box: Molded plastic, accomodates 2S, 3S and 4S LiPo packs, three quick release hook and loop straps, dimensions- 5.5 x 1.8 x 1" (140 x 45.7 x 25.4mm)
Motor Mount: CNC aluminum, cam lock style
Shocks: Oil-filled 17mm aluminum body Big Bore
Shock Towers: Front 0.16" (4mm), rear 0.12" (3mm) aluminum
Pinion Gear: 16 tooth 32 pitch
Spur Gear: 48 tooth 32 pitch
Suspension: Front & rear anti-roll bars, newly designed front C-hub assembly
Caster: Adjustable, caster/toe-in refers to the angle of the suspension when viewed from the side of the car in relation to the chassis
Camber: Adjustable, camber refers to the angle of the tops of the tires from vertical when viewed from front or behind vehicle
Body: Trimmed and printed 1/8 scale buggy with high downforce nylon rear wing molded in white
Tires: Low tread L-pattern with foam inserts
Wheels: Revo style, white in color, 17mm hex

Yeah that's what I tought so, theres not a lot of pics to compare...
Tnx anyway I'll do some more research and decide what is the best move to do

A bit late, but this is what I went for. I can tell you this thing is a blast and very durable.
Driving it on track only it survived a couple of good tumbles, only thing so far I've noticed is slitly bent front wheels

Sweet!

Now it's time to start a "Serpent Cobra Buggy Be-RTR" thread, and post your progress; likes, and dislikes about the 1/8 scale buggy.
