I'm thinking about taking a 120-gallon, heavy duty, outdoor fishpond liner and flipping it upside down, spraying some sort of foam hardening material on it and then trying to make it look like rocks or form a trail or something up, over and around it...

Anyone tried such a thing or anything similar?

Haven't tried it but it sounds like a good project. Now you've got me thinking. 🤔 :thumbs-up:

If the pool liner is flexible, you might have to brace it up inside.
I believe he's referring to a rigid pond mold and not a liner. If so, they are free standing and should be more than sturdy enough as long as not too much weight(rocks, wood, etc)is put in the center.

This is the liner I'm using...

I've just been winging it this weekend...pictures to come soon, it's about 40% complete...maybe lol
Can't wait to see it. I was thinking you were still contemplating ideas for it, instead you went all gung ho on us 🤣

When you get it shaped with the foam, I was going to suggest you toss some boulders on it and quik crete it all in so it's solid.

I haven't done any shaping or anything really other than attempting to get a climbable structure. I haven't even tried it out yet to test...but I'm having a blast messing around with ideas. TBD... (the black paint is just a base, going to add grey's, brown's, etc.

I just took the maiden voyage with my new Traxxas TRX-4M Defender on the in-progress rock hill climb and what I guess I'm going to call the rock climb plateau. I love the look of this truck...I am already wanting upgrades...like some new tired and more weight to start....and the light kit...lol. I have also already figured out my climbs are pretty steep for this truck stock...and it did rain, so it was slick, but they will need some sanding and shaping for sure.

That's the truck coming down my rock hill climb I've setup in the infield of my short track course. the rock plateau I'm working on is in the background

I'm wondering if hand sandpaper or a Dremel would be better for shaping this bad boy

A wood rasp file would work pretty good. The more knarly the teeth, the better.

Looking good! Your off to a good start.

The stock tires on the Defender are actually pretty good. But if you want new Rims, I would suggest looking at Injora for tires. I added the light kit and lower crawler gearing to mine. It is pretty top heavy due to the body. Great looking rig though.
