well folks i have a few questions.
1. Which is a better engine for the ofna hyper pcr buggy?

If the xtm engine wins then........

2. where is the best place to buy the xtm? (if so)
3. How much to sell my hyper 8 for?
4. Will the xtm be an easy fit for the ofna pcr buggy, with which hop ups?
5. Also will this engine need an additional cooling head, or is the one it has fine?
If the hyper 8port wins,
6. how do i put a shaft starter on it?

(Personally, i would told a shaft starter would not fit on a hyper 8 port, which dissappointed me. so now i wondering should i keep it or should i go to a xtm which i can put a shaft start on.)

guess ur not worryin bout b'g legal for racing? awful nice buggy 2 not race at all, if just 4 fun. i will say that the 2 guys w/shaft starts on their buggies at our local club have nothin but issues w/them. either not enuff juice 4 continued hits durin a day, but more importantly...crap w/the unit itself specifically the 1 way bearing.

Well I have both engines and the XTM is an awsome engine, with great low end and ok top end. I would take the XTM over the 8 port. The 8 port is a good engine with more top end then bottom end, but the carb sucks ass. If you keep the 8port change the carb and make sure you seal it really well.

You _can_ put a pull start on the 8-port so you'll also be able to put a roto start or Tiger Drive on it. As UltegraSTI noted though, some people have nothing but issues with the 1-way bearings so that should be a consideration for sure.

If you have the 8-port race, you can also put a pull start on it, but it's a little more difficult.

A: Ebay or a guy named Engine_Nut on www.savage-central.com

4. Will the xtm be an easy fit for the ofna pcr buggy, with which hop ups?
A: Ya, it will bolt right up, but it might raise your center of gravity a tad, because I assume you use bump start.

5. Also will this engine need an additional cooling head, or is the one it has fine?
A: if the one you buy has the small xtm head , purchase the ANCNC head. I personally run one and my truck runs cool all day long. The small head xtm gets fairly hot.

Go with the XTM, i guarantee it will woop the Ofna Block (I've seen and drove it myself) Plus xtm is a lot better quality and easy to tune. But, xtm will not be race legal everywhere, most tracks are strictly .21 for buggies.

And one more thing, I've never blown a one-way on a Shaft Start because.....
I loosen the glow plug to relieve pressure. Then tighten up when she's started. If you follow this you will never break a one-way.

Good Luck!

I have the one with the stock cooling head and it does fine 225-235 deg

not bad good tuning bumb bumb

never saw the xtm but the 8 port u can't go wrong ether way there both engines are fast and resonablly priced

is that a little low on temps, being at 160-180? I've always read you should try to run above 190 for proper heat expansion of the piston and sleeve.

at a temp of 160 your internal engine parts don't even expand properly, and that can be as harmful as running too lean.

anyways, i have the xtm 24.7 and it's an aweosme engine. reliable and powerful
