Hey guys, so my extremely heavily modified xmaxx ultimate is acting odd and I can't figure it out! So it will take paragraphs to explain all it has in it, but the basics is a brand new max 5 combo with the 5690 motor. Vitavon 25/35 mod 1.5 gearing. Entire truck and every upgrade part and oem part is maybe only 1 to 2 months old. Trucks very new and in perfect condition. So after dropping in a max6 esc on the 5690 motor I wanted a lil more power to the motor so I purchased the Max5 esc and dropped that in on the 5690 motor. Everything worked great with the previous max6 esc but now with the max5 the reverse does not work 100% correctly. It will go in reverse but not on demand every time, and if you hold trigger in full reverse the tires will spin for a second then completely stop then start and stop constantly all on its own. Something is not right, reverse almost acts like it's possessed by demons lol. And yes I've tried to recalibrate the esc to my flysky nb4+. Please help bros!

Uuhmmm…. That’s hard to pinpoint. I have an associated esc In my slash and it doesn’t always go back the 1st time, but I never touched it other than putting it in my slash.if you’re running Traxxas link (the little Bluetooth module that talks to your phone) you may be able to change your settings for throttle. I’m wondering if you need to calibrate your esc. Most esc have a mode to do that, but every one is different. I heard that if you switch any two motor leads, that the motor runs differently, so check those. That’s as much advice I have in the book, but call Traxxas (1-888-TRAXXAS) and ask for help. They might know as well. Good luck!

Have you used the program box or OTA programmer to check the default settings? Is there any damage to the sensor wire?
Ok so just to clarify, this xmaxx is completely modified and everything is brand new with only a handful of runs total. Max 5 esc and 5690 motor sensored. Flysky inr4 reciever and flysky nb4+ transmitter. And yes I'm using the Bluetooth ota programmer. The only stock thing is the 2085x servo which is traxxas upgraded servo came stock in the xmaxx ultimate. Now I did have my bec turned up to 8.4v although traxxas states the servo is a 6v servo it's also stated that it's a high voltage and high torque servo. So I cranked that poop all the way up, what I noticed just now is that when I am at 8.4v that's when I have reverse issues. Almost seems like interference or communication issues as it's stuttery. I changed the bec voltage to 7.4v and reverse was perfect! I could utilize the full benefit of sensored motor by just going in reverse as slow and smooth as I wanted. But on 8.4v it acts crazy in reverse! Now I've had this on 8.4v the whole time before and reverse acted fine! So what the hell do I make of all that?

I've heard of servos that are drawing too much amperage messing with the esc functions. It could be the case, or it could be a fluke with the ESC. Might be a good idea to shoot a message to hobbywing. The only other thing I could think of is to replace the servo with a different one that is rated for 8.4v and see if the problem persists. I've had that happen with a savox servo before, but at full turn the esc would flake out.
