Greetings,
I have the OEM 8s rated wheels/tires on my X-Maxx and after 18 outings on grass, dirt, rocks, and the occasional speed run on a stretch of tarmac—they are holding up well. I have no complaints about “ballooning” as I run stock 18/54 gearing and mine tops out at 41mph on pavement with the Traxxas 6700 batteries. On dirt, the stock tire/wheel assembly does pretty well and no complaints.
That said, as a motorsports enthusiast—one always wants to tinker.
I’ve watched the videos regarding the Pro-Line MX43 Beadlock wheel/tires for the X-Maxx 8s.
Here is what I understand (am open to correction from those who own these):
1. They are significantly heavier (which does create more servo/drivetrain/motor/ESC stress).
2. They are a denser compound and “should” hold up longer over time.
3. They are not as good at absorbing impact (denser tire with less give than stock).
4. They are significantly more expensive than the Traxxas X-Maxx 8s rated wheel/tire assembly (which means that there has to be a tangible benefit).
Humble request: if you have the MX43s please post photos with the MX43 mounted, how many runs on the setup, and your objective assessment—pros and cons.
I’ve attached photos of my tires after running it yesterday.
Thank you in advance for replies.
