General RC Information
I wanted a slow flying stick-built plane that I could convert to electric, so I went with an Old-Timer. The model is a Lanzo Bantam Bomber that is from the 1930's and I decided to cover it with clear yellow MonoKote and it sort of looked like the character named Hand Banana in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force cartoon. I intended on putting Hand Banana's face on the front, but i couldn't get the right feel for how I wanted it to look. You can see my attempt at the face on the front. I used electrical tape just to see if it would look good, but I changed my mind. I ended up tracing out another character named Carl from the same cartoon and cut out MonoKote and put Carl's face on the vertical stabilizer. Hand Banana antagonized Carl in the episode, so I thought it was fitting to have Carl's face on the tail. It has been a few years since I built this plane, so I can't remember the specs of the motor or ESC, but I can investigate it if anyone needs that info, because I still have this plane. I know it was an E-Flite motor and I think the ESC was E-Flite as well.
I am not a good pilot at all, but I do fly all of my planes at least once...lol My rule is that I have to have a successful flight, which to me means fly & land. I use the terms "fly" and "land" loosely and consider it a landing if it lands without damage. If I crash a plane, I have to rebuild it and fly it again until I can "land" without damage. Luckily, I have only had two crashes and even luckier, this one has never crashed. I'll put up the other plane that I crashed in another showcase. The other crash was a drone, but that is another story. Enjoy the pics!
