A|l these "racer" brands could be considered pretty high end.
Some of these cars are VERY high end! 😎
After taking a glance online at some of the upscale RC’s that people have , I can see how these rigs can become a pretty hefty investment. But I suppose that’s true with any hobby.

I believe the money I had wrapped up in r/c years ago is what made me hang on to it all! Its expensive for certain. Def gotta be careful how you spend. Theres ALWAYS a way to spend more!

There sure is. My son has a friend who we have pretty much taken in , more or less , due to his home life being “less than ideal”. He’s been saving for a decent RC for a while. He has an older brushed Rustler. It’s scratched up and in sort of rough shape. But it runs. So today , I asked if I could have his Rustler because my youngest wants to dabble in RC and I didn't wanna buy something new and expensive if he isn’t gonna wanna stick with it (he goes through phases that last @ 3 hours 🙄).

And in return for his old Rustler , I told him
I’d buy him something brand new. He didn’t know how to react. I think he thought I was joking. But it was no joke. He asked if a Stampede 4x4 VXL was too much money. I said absolutely not. So I ordered the one he wanted. It’ll be here in a few days. If you saw this kid’s face and the pure joy and excitement on it , well worth the price. The three of them are upstairs right now watching YT vids on all things RC.

So yeah , there’s always a way to spend more. And I think I wanna get some kind of street tires for my MT10 (whenever it ships). And tools too.

Thats a great story! What a nice thing to do all the way around!
If you're gonna spend money on something in this hobby, its best to spend it to make someone else happy or make the ppl you're racing against cry!!! 🤣

Haha indeed. I mean , now we have to live on bread and water for the next 3 weeks but such is life 🤣

Absolutely awesome! Let me know if I can help with a few $, and I'll gladly send it your way.

Thanks bro. That’s a nice gesture. Everything is good. I was just showing the boys a few minutes ago all the info I’ve been getting here on the forums. They love the RC Builds section.

I forgot about xray I haven’t heard of hot bodies though
Hot Bodies is HB Racing. I’m sure you’ve heard of HB..🍻🤘

Most of the active race grade 1/8 off-road manufacturers off the top of my head, and in no particular order:

Team Associated
TLR (formerly Losi)
Mugen Seiki
Tekno
Xray
Agama
WIRC
Caster Racing
Sworkz
Serpent
HB Racing (Hot Bodies)
Kyosho
Sparko
INF1NITY
Mayako

I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple, but these are off the top of my head manufacturers who are currently active. I could go on for days with defunct brands over the last 25yrs or so lol..😅🤷🏻‍♂️

I remember back in the day when Associated and Losi were big rivals. Back when I used to read magazines before the internet came along.

Yessir-the RC10, and the JRX-2. 🤩 Those were the days!

Then the Ultima came along and offered even more competition!
Traxxas and Tamiya had a few on the track I'd king of forgotten too! Great times racing then! ❤️❤️❤️
Yep-the Ultima, and JRX-2 were released within a couple months of eachother. Nothing else in 2wd off-road buggy stood a chance with those three in the mix.. That’s when dedicated Tamiya Classes were born all over.. 😅

I raced both, one with my RC10 on a custom Composite Craft graphite chassis, and Team Pit Stop chain drive transmission with Andy’s/MIP suspension, and had a NASTY Hornet (I know lol) that I ran in the stock Tamiya class.. Same as today in 1/10 stock classes, those cars are more modified than anything else there.. Everywhere I went with that Hornet-there wasn’t a single “stock” Tamiya, or Traxxas Cat (the only thing Traxxas had at the time, and was allowed in the Tamiya Class) that could touch it… REALLY upset the Fox, Wild One and HotShot guys..😂

I had a Traxxas Cat in 1988. Came fully assembled. It was quite a step up from the Tyco Turbo Hopper I was used to.
