I was looking on the Proline site and the amount of different wheels and tires that they have is astonishing. I love all the options.
They are cool, no doubt. They are much heavier than stock offerings. They'll dig & go, adjust throttle control, so a drivetrain part doesn't leave the chat. 😆

Duratrax is even heavier. Proline makes top notch stuff. Better than Duratrax. Jconcepts is great too.

I’ll look into Duratrax today. For on-road tires , I really like the look of the Anacondas that come with the JATO.

And do most tires come preglued with foam insets installed on wheels?

A lot of them do, unfortunately. And since Horizon bought Pro-Line, buying separate wheels and tires will be a thing of the past for a lot of kits. Why sell a set of tires when they can jack the price up $25 and throw in $2 worth of crap plastic wheels? Damn, I'll get off my soap box.

well i’ll be buying jconcepts for race tires then lol

Wait, you guys get the good stuff?? Must be nice having money... I usually buy the cheep sets off of Amazon and every time I run it I pray the tires wont fail in a catastrophical way...

Let me see. I mainly use Jconcepts but got some Proline and Schumacher in my tire bins.

When I got slick tires from my buddy a couple months ago. Most tires were Proline primes. Woah, haven't heard that tread name in a longgg time lol

Chandler went his own way.. didn't pan out for him. I read up on it some time ago. Kinda like VHS vs Beta for those old enough to remember, lol. But yeah, Bigfoot was the shizzle way before anyone heard of the other guys.
I remember seeing monster trucks for the very first time on TV. It was that show 'That's Incredible'. It was Bigfoot vs USA-1. And they were called car crushers. Not monster trucks back then. Because they actually drove over complete cars and crushed them. They only did the speed of an old John Deer tractor at that time, but I was hooked. I could have beaten them both around the course they ran on foot 😅

Bigfoot won by the way.

Proline is just one of many too! There are NO shortages of companies making 1/10 tires and wheels.. 1/8 and up is where the choices start to thin out.. many say Proline has back slid since being aquired by HH. I really don't know since I refuse to pay Porkline prices. AKA is another highly regarded brand that's been swallowed up by HH..
Side story, I recently grabbed a set of AKA 1/8 premounts off ebay from seller "Hobbies_for_good". Half price, gotta buy those!! LOL. Well, when they arrived, shipper is Proline!? So, both Proline and AKA are "Made in USA", both owned by HH.. how much difference do I think there is between the two? Yes, different tread patterns/logos, but uh, likely not much else? Pricing is even pretty much the same.

Oh yeah, and Duratrax.. also owned by HH now. Shame HH all but killed off the Duratrax offerings. Not much available these days from Duratrax compared to what they used to make. Now Duratrax is basically Proline, but without the variety. Made in USA now however, so there's that.

I’m starting to get ideas in my head and I don’t know if I can get them out…. I was just looking at the Traxxas Sledge (belted). And it looks awwwwwwesome. But would a novice like me be ok driving something like that? I need opinions please.
Yeah, the bigger 1/8 scale stuff is more forgiving and easier to drive. But for less money, I'd definitely get the Kraton. They're really proud of that Sledge 😲

LOL!! I have similar issues!
As to the Sledge, sure you can use it as a starter, run it on 4s, or turn the power down on 6s. It runs decently on 4s, and when you decide to go up to 6, the 4s battery can be used in your son's Maxx.
IMO the Kraton 6s EXB is the better truck vs the Sledge. Better design, better drivetrain, shocks.. The belted tires are moot for me, I never have blown an Arrma tire, which are also better than Traxxas IMO. Traxxas wheels are thin and break easily, especially in cold weather.
Sledge w/belted is $769, Kraton EXB $699, I'd have to really love Traxxas to pay more for what I feel is actually a less capable truck.
Just my opinions of course. I'm not loyal to any brands. Either one can provide much enjoyment.

I would even argue the Kraton 6s BLX is a better truck than the Sledge, but the EXB is waay better. As you can tell, not really a fan of the Sledge. Not because I think the truck is soo bad, just that the price is out of whack, add to that the smear campaign Traxxas did against the Kraton when they released it, and I just don't like it.

Yeah, I wasn't even talking about the EXB. The regular Kraton I feel is a better truck. Granted, the aluminum chassis plate in the Kraton is made out of pop cans, and not 7075 T6 aluminum like they claim, but still I know it's a lot better design. The electronics are better too.

Ours is running the stock ESC and motor, and it's a V3.
