i would think they would come out with a big block to try and compete with other trucks just dont get it.

because designing an engine from the ground up is an expensive proposition, even for a large company. i belive that traxxas worked with sirio when developing the 2.5, and they are gonna ride that train till the wheels fall off.

Compete? I'm confused, what other trucks are beating the Traxxas trucks on the track?

Mr T

I guessing so they can stick with their cheep little differentials and trannys gosh it sucks that you have to replace all that stuff to get a big block. Sorry venting In the first place if i wanted a big block i should have gotten a savage from the begining. I chose the maxx cuz it was cheeper and i got what i paid for in the end, wish i would have done a little more research b/f buying. O well I dont hate the Maxx that much one thing i love about it is fixing it. Probably wouldnt have that with the savage cuz it wouldnt break. Not hating just wish i could have a big block.

This topic comes up on the Traxxas site from time to time. Guess since they dont have a true 1/8 scale and the T-Maxx and Revo are selling sooooo well, why change? Guess thats what there is an aftermarket for. But they could always go w/ an engine builder and let them do the work or just slap a new head on a exsisting mill and call it a Traxxas. But like PSI said they will just ride it out till the wheels fall off....and he knows a thing or two about wheels falling off.

The TNX and SUT, but on a different note some people like to say that they could put a big .28 or something without major mods.

I've never herd of those trucks beating the revo?

It was discussed in another thread, I can't find it. In one big race this spring two tnxs were leading the revo by a few laps and poor pit stratagy they ran out of gas. It was posted I'm prob just looking at the wrong place.

You haven't heard it yet... ;) The revo is a tough to beat item. After scrapping the reverse crap and upgrading the shock ends, it seems that people really do like it. I like watching movies of it, but listening to the engine note still makes me kind of chuckle.

I agree with some of the others as to why they don't come out with their own big block. 1, it would be admitting defeat. 2, they probably have way to many 2.5's sitting around. 3, they would be forced to deal with the diff problems. 4, that would be thinking way to far ahead.

That little 2.5R cranks out the rpm's, but to me, it still sounds awfully doggy on take off. I think I'm just to used to hearing my savage (with aftermarket 21) snapping up to maxx rpm's really fast to really think I'd ever enjoy anything smaller. It does look like one good handling and durable truck though...

Yeah the TNX's were out in front, would have won if they didnt run out of fuel(foaming). This was the Revo's first time out racing with Traxxas drivers. I remember reading it in RC Driver.

That race was at RC Madness in Enfield, CT. The TNX has been doing very well racing against the REVO all over. But, the Traxxas "machine" just pushes all of that aside. Can't beat the Traxxas marketing team.

yeah but you see all these people sayin there goin to drop a bigger engine in htere revo i just dont see why traxxas would put the price up a little more and put a big block instead of them having poeple going out putting a 200$ engine in there revo.

Think about it though... why deal with all that crap of upgrading the engine when you can't keep your truck on the shelves of LHS's anyway? People are aparently buying the thing, what do they care what they do with it later...

I dont think they need a big block. My dad's revo hangs with my .26 tmaxx..well...until i hit 2nd gear. But his is pretty fast, like Traxxas says, big block power in a small block engine(or something like that)

1st of all comparing 2 trucks in a race is stupid. it's 90% driver, not machine. if the tamaya guys had a revo, they still probably would've been ahead. unless you have a real pos, you really can't blame you machinery when you lose.

nitro-freak, they were pros. it was a national race. i forget which specific one, ill have to dig out the magazine. fact is the TNX is a real threat to the REVO on the track, just not in the marketing dept.

I thought the 2.5 sounded kinda awesome. I'd put one on my RS4 if I could find one cheap.
