Hey Guys and Gals, Why Is it so important to dump NiCad batteries, is it better to use the NiMh. I'm all set up with the NiCads, so what is your advice.

Thanks Jim

Here is some info for you. NiMH batteries are the way to go.

• PERFORMANCE: NiMH batteries will greatly out-perform standard NiCd batteries in high-drain applications.

• VOLTAGE: The power produced by the battery. Both NiMH and NiCd have virtually the same voltage.

• CAPACITY: The amount of energy stored by the battery. NiMH has more than twice the capacity of standard NiCd. This results in much longer runs times (hours, # of pictures).

• MEMORY EFFECT: NiMH batteries can be charged or “topped-off” at any time without affecting battery life. In order to achieve optimum performance from NiCd batteries, they must be fully discharged before recharging. Unlike NiCd batteries, NiMH has No Memory Effect.

Thank's for the info RobMob, can I still use my chargers with the NiMH batteries.
Thanks Jim

Th 9.6V 300 ma that go's with the JR XS3 transmitter, then the one that goes with the glow igniter, and a mega peak for the humpback and roto start which does 1-2-4 Amp

What model mega peak?
I need to know EXACTLY what charger it is so I can help see if its good for your batteries.

It say's Megatech, high performance products, input:ac 117V 60Hz,DC 12V power source. then at the bottom it says ac/dc 4-8 cell peak charger. no model number anywhere !! Hope that helps, Thanks Jim

that one?

specs:
Megatech Peak
MTC 3812
AC/DC 4-8 Cell Quick Charger

* Charges 4-8 Cell NiMH and NiCads
* Selectable Charge Rate
* Peak Detection for Optimum Battery Charge Every Time
* LED Charge Status

if so then yes it will do both

Exact same thing Beason except it only has one white connection, Why is your's pictured with two?. Being in collision repair I tail lights all aover the place and have seen dumpers on the net from three bulbs up to ten, could'nt I get a connection and make my own?. But all you guys think NiMH is the way to go huh? Thanks Jim

you could use the nicads, and dump them each time. but the nickle metal batterys have way less maintanance. (sp) if you can afford it i would switch.

and i dont know about the connector. that pic came strait off megatech's websight. :shrug:

Thanks beacon, You have been real helpful. Jim

It looks to me like the other connector in the pic is to power the charger with a car cig lighter socket.

he talking about the two white plugs. if you look closely you can see a black plug on the other end of the right wire. it seems to be a converter to charge the batterys with only a receiver style plug.
