What do you replace your RTR servos with?

Yeah, but that's a whole lot of cool bragging rights for under two-hundred bucks, with tax! And think of the grams of weight saved over those ponderous and burdensome regular-old-run-of-the-mill metal gear servos that are weighing down your rig like an anchor now. Worth the cost of admission... for those with a wallet stuffed full of dead presidents (of course meaning "not me.") I can dream, though.

Can't get tougher than titanium, but you're right. It's got OK torque (486 oz-in) for a crawler and it's not fast enough to be a race servo. The $$ are about the indestructible factor.

Is it just me, or has Hitec been put on hold in everybody's mind?

Titanium you say? I'm going shoppin' now.

I ran Hitec exclusively for a lonnnnnnnng time.. They RARELY ever failed, and they had a no questions asked free replacement warranty. I switched to Tekin about 5yrs ago, and then moved to NitroPro very shortly after that. Haven’t looked back since, and likely never will. I DO like that Hitec, and Tekin both make their own servo’s, but they can’t touch NitroPro in terms of performance, or warranty imo. I’m well aware that AGFRC produces them to Drew’s specs, and I’m more than ok with that. Veteran owned, small business, best warranty program in the business, and positively unmatched customer service. I don’t have a problem with Tekin’s products, or Hitec-I just prefer NitroPro for my needs.

I ran nothing but Titanium gear servos from Hitec, and never had one issue out of them. The ONLY time I used their free replacement warranty was when I bought USED vehicles that had a bad servo in them, or bought blown up, or severed harness Hitec’s. I probably swapped out (50) servos over the years, and they never gave me any shiit about it once. They’ve since revised their warranty program.

I wanted to follow up...

I bought a pair of S665 (6s) Spektrum servos from Jenny's.

In addition to servos, I need to replace all 4 corners of the suspension on my Granite BLX. My hubs and bearings all fried.
The suspension arms with the plastic balls wore thru. Balls fall out like an old guy in short shorts. 😐
There is something loose in the steering linkage under the servo.
Linkage is getting replaced with 223 parts too.
Longer arms are an upgrade but required to buy longer axle shafts.

Jennysrc.com made this rescue possible. Not a chance I'd be rebuilding this truck if I had to pay full price!

So far, the Gorgon seems ok with the bigger servo. 👍

I'll report back on the Granite.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions! Time will tell if I made the right choice on the servos. 🤞😎

Nice 😎

I did want to bring up something with the S665 spektrum servos. If you get them on Jenny's rc since they're cheap, they're pretty good specs wise for the price
My only complaint is that below freezing temps, the steering/servo gets weak and eventually locks up/quits on you until you turn it off and turn it back on. I experienced this like 2 bash sessions earlier this month with the huge snow storm we had and I was ice drifting lol. In normal spring/summer/fall temps the servo does just fine. Just something id figure I'd brought up to get the note out.

Sure my servo saver could have been sloppy or snow packed in the pillow balls/hubs but I swaoped my 9imod from my rustler back to my typhon and had no issues in the cold so... 🤷🤔

Oh yea, well the s665 could have hit it's stall torque, that's a possibility since it's only a 20kg servo and for a 1/8 it's pretty low but I don't think it was the stall torque bc it kept getting weaker and weaker over the course of a 10 minute bash session instead of quiting immediately. Idk.

My old servos both lasted a couple years. I think if I get similar out of these, I'll be ok.
This servo is prob slower than stock on 2s.
I haven't tried 3s to see if its faster at all.

665 seems more solid, weighs more. Seems stronger and more precise than stock (s660?) too.
Seems nore than enough servo for this truck.

If these servos die in snow/cold, I'll have to swap them again. Both these trucks are run in snow and ice regularly.

The Gorgon ran thru a full pack in snow and ice without issue. I hope it stays like that! 🤞
