Honestly I was thinking about it last night and it very well be the motor gear slipped back some off the tension bolt and wasn't fully seated with the front pinion. I dunno, I've already got the front end apart at this point, so going to clean everything, regrease it, put it back together (hopefully correctly) and reseat the motor gear and see what happens.Have you isolated the axles and rotated each side individually to see if you could chase it down that way?
Grit in your gearbox could certainly make a racket! Is it just in the housing or did it reach gears?
Have you removed and tested bearings for smooth, crud free rotation?

bought parts for the slash, new axles and a new rear bumper but it didn’t come with screws for the bumper so I gotta go back and buy the screws tomorrow

Was busy with a full plate’s worth of “other shiit” all day, so didn’t wrench on anything, but finally managed to sneak into a livestream I’ve been trying to make for the last year or better.. Even managed to get a couple replies in.. Also reaffirmed that my thinking is correct, and there are a lottttttt of hardcore racers that don’t know wtf they’re talkin’ about.. 
Pretty cool.. Also did some work with the track, diag’d a bad power supply for my blacklights that gave up apparently first thing this morning in the RC dungeon, and composed a well worded email to the manufacturer as I’ve got about 14mos left on my warranty for them.. Be nice to not have to buy another set from a different manufacturer. We will see. Back on the track tomorrow, and likely begin the knifework on the Mon-Tech crawler body in the evening..

i’ll open the window I got to solder the battery leads then flip a and c on the esc before I solder the motor

I just did the heat shrink on the wire it should be good now time to the battery on the buggy esc should be easier though lolIf it works it works

You using bullets right? Yea they are easy to solder up compared to plugs
