I miss my Ranger. :(
But, dude, you now have a Transit! It's kinda like a Ranger........it, uh, has the same emblem!....and 4 tires!
See, just like a Ranger.

All that I have left to purchase is the motor, esc and body. The washers for the wing didn't come in with the screw kit so I used a couple round servo horns.

I'm sure you can bro. lol.

I am leaning towards building another Baja 5b with a 45cc engine. I have a bunch of parts already, when I installed the shorty kit in my other baja.

What's a good shock set up for the scx24's? I can't find a good conglomerated video on several being tested, just "this" vs stock so its not much help. I know some of you have some money tied up into this topic alone so would like to get some idea. Also, I'm thinking about 4 linking my Deadbolt in the future, they dont make kits for it specifically if I'm not mistaken? 133.5mm for the deadbolt, the only ones I see for sale are 133.7 which is for the jeep/c10 right? Would it matter? I'll keep reading on it, just too many question for that one to happen just yet.

Link length has to do with the trans Mount. Deadbolt has the Mount closer to the front and shorter front links. C10 is in the middle so it has longer fronts. I prefer the deadbolt chassis for rock crawling with big verticals. C10 setup for general crawling/trail.

The new hr oil filled shocks are pretty good. Spring ones are not to bad if set up right either. I run the longer 43’s one of mine and the standard. I prefer soft spring and long travel for big courses. Oil filled is great for all around.

My usual shock build goes like
Change out to softest springs in the kit
Thread lock the cap and cups
Drop of oil on each shaft, 2 if using the 43’s
Thread lock on the shock mounting screws, back screw out until the shocks move freely with no binding. You’ll be able to feel it when pushing on it. I usually space top and bottoms. 43 require some room to flex. Standards usually a spacer is good enough.
They will get smoother as you run it

The Deadbolt and the Betty have the same wheelbase, links, and driveshafts. The Jeep and the C10 are the same. The new Gladiator is longer than all of them. If you buy links or driveshafts, make sure you look in the reviews if there are any to see if anyone mentions getting the wrong ones. Greywolf bought some Treal driveshafts off Amazon that were listed wrong. I don't know if any other brands got things mixed up, but I would make sure.

You can also use longer links to extend your wheelbase, but that will involve some customizing, as your servo will hit your bumper.

There is only one set of frame rails for the 4 vehicles. The Gladiator uses longer ones. That being said, the frame rails only have one set of holes for the center crossmember (trans mount as you called it). So the crossmember is in the same spot on the 4 earlier trucks. There is no way for it to mount anywhere else. It is just links, driveshafts, bumper mounts, and rear body mounts that are different between the trucks.

Most of the aftermarket shocks for the SCX24 don't really offer any improved performance, mostly cosmetic from what I've seen. That being said some of them might be better, there are a lot out there but at this scale I doubt you'll get much improvement if any other than the fact they look badass! :)

I now run all my SCX24s springless. These things are tiny and don't really go that fast, so the large rubber tires work just fine as impact absorbers.
I did buy a set of Injora double barrel shocks to try. At first, I didn't like them, but I'd recently experimented with these on my Injora chassis build. I'm running them springless, and mounting them significantly more horizontal.
I'm very happy with how this build is performing and progressing. Once I figure out the right tire/wheel combination and get a stronger motor, this should be a beast of a comp style crawler!

I hate to divert everybody attention to something else other than RC but I did it on purpose...:D
