Robbed the servo from the mt410 for now. Waiting for the bumpers to print.

I installed an Aliexpress-sourced winch on my Rlaarlo MK-07 V2. There were no instructions but I found info on line to get it done. I tried to short-cut the project by not unhooking the lights in the bumper and leaving the bumper in place but I think this only complicated things for me. Some minor modifications to the bumper (just a few access holes drilled from the underneath) were needed but everything fit fine without having to extend the bumper from its original position.

The MK-07 came with a 10-channel radio and I put the winch control on an unused channel that had a button on the Tx. I couldn't make that work as pushing the button alternated running the winch in or out, but I couldn't stop it. I changed it to a knob-controlled channel and turning the knob forward or back runs the winch in or out and it stops when the knob is near center. Success.

I think I'll leave the power cable to the winch unhooked when I don't intend to use it show it off. It's maybe too easy to accidentally move the knob and have the winch do something I don't want it to when I power up the vehicle.

Here's what it looks like. A closer view would show that what appears to be the WARN logo has "WAYN" printed on it instead. I didn't notice this when I ordered it. Bummer that it's not licensed but at least the logo is small enough that you can't notice the name unless you hold it up in front of you; probably not something most folks will be doing with this 1/7 scale heavyweight. Heck... the model itself is an unlicensed copy.

I need to paint the bumper's molded-in fairlead area silver.

Apparently i wasn't done fixing the XO-1 since it turned out i reversed the cush drive shaft so it was acting like the diffs or my gear mesh was binding but both were okay so i fixed so it setup right and it rolled smooth as butter again. So now the XO-1 is truly fixed and ready for it's next run maybe sometime this week.

no pics sadly but i did some tinkering last night.
swapped motor and transmission on the young man (yellow ecto) gotta redo the gears it turns out
replaced rear shock springs on the ascent tow truck to make the rea a little stiffer so it doesn't squat as badly when towing another vehicle. added 40wt oil to them, oil i removed was still clear, great sign.
rotated the rear tires while i was at it and added a drop of the blue to the dually extension to ensure they dont fly off at btc
swapped the winch servos over to a different channel on the transmitter so its now a switch forward nutral or reverse rather than than the knob which was constantly getting touched and activating the winch at the wrong times.
replaced winch cable on the Old man, it snapped which led me to the above repair
replaced the dualies on the trailer and found a way to bolt in onto the bumper of the scx6, it rides much better and looks more scale on the 6 than it does the cen.
added lights to the old man for the night run this year at BTC

Been working on my Mini Z 4x4. I was planning on using a small Redcat 200mah battery but unfortunately it failed in spectacular fashion 💨

I must say, their warranty was amazing!

I made the claim using their form and in less than thirty minutes I had a invoice/shipping notice for a replacement.

Now THAT is customer service!!
