I scraped up a few parts for another crawler build.
I have frame rails, shocks, skid plate and a Hobbywing esc.
I need to dig because I know I have a brand-new Holmes Hobbies motor somewhere.

Newbie near-screw-up today... I sharpened up a short length of 1/8" brass tube with plans to vent tires. It went well on the first two vehicles, then I tried to do the new JConcepts Tusks on the Optic.

I guess the sharpened brass tube method should avoided for use on soft, sticky tires... the tire rubber grabbed onto the tube and started to twist up it! I let off the drill trigger just in time; no damage was done.

I guess the preferred method for these types of tires is the leather punch before the tires are mounted. Next time... :)

Get something red hot and poke through the tire, like a 1/16 drill bit or smaller. It doesn't take much.

Been there, done that.. You're right, the leather punch is best for super sticky crawler tyres, ask me how I know 😂

Easiest method yet. Thanks for the tip.

Funny... that's such an obvious solution, but due to my having seen the brass tube and the leather punch methods on videos, I didn't stop to think about any other ways to get it done!

Disaster averted, knowledge gained! :thumbs-up:

Got 2 SCX24 chassiss into fully functional vehicles. The one needs the body mounted, but I am pretty much ready to do that. Just need to print a body mount.

Didn't grab pics, I will probably get some today.

One is the Jeep toy I have been working on that is on a stock chassis, weird wheelbase and a mixture of aftermarket and stock parts - for now.

They other is the reborn Basecamp that's not much of a Basecamp anymore - aftermarket chassis and body that has some of the parts from the Basecamp...the other parts went to the Jeep

Fun with Acrylic sheet..

Getting finished up with recent revisions to the RC Shop. V2 vehicle wall mounts, insulators for my modified HP PSU’s/charging station, and a Nitro engine pipe/header storage rack.

Been tied up with a bunch of other projects, so will be nice to wrap these up in one fell swoop-more or less.. 😎🤘
