I was going to build up a "spare" gearbox/transmission for my Tamiya BBX and there are no used, parted out rigs and no full parts access from Tamiya. Is this normal???. I think I may be spoiled by Traxxas..

Nobody wants to get rid of their most excellent BBX buggy 
Also, not every RC platform is going to have chop shops taking a risk on less popular models. That's my speculation. I don't follow Tamiya parts availability closely. Just buy new parts.

Tamiya guys don't sell they hoard. and they try to keep everything as close to complete as possible.

It is a damn sweet kit, but I do love parts access and Tamiya has failed me!Nobody wants to get rid of their most excellent BBX buggy

I'm not quite sure what 'parts access' means. Is there a particular part(s) that you can not find?It is a damn sweet kit, but I do love parts access and Tamiya has failed me!

Yes, some Tamiya parts are not available in the USA from Tamiya or anyone!.
