Finally got ahold of someone at TLR to find out what is going on with stock status on the 22 5.0 parts and they confirmed that they are no longer supporting the kit due to issues with their supplier. Total bummer for all of the folks still running this kit like myself... Stock up on any front a-arms you can find out there boys!

Sad but true

due to issues with their supplier.
LOL 🤣 that's just the lies they tell. it's just horizon.

Edit: well technically TLRs supplier is Horizon so...

Well with that... I'll try to crash less.

They're completely abandoning old models bc they want and to only want to focus on the 22X platform now.

Plus with this, the price of parts, used ARTRs and rollers are gonna go up by ALOT.

Meh. I give TLR 5 years before theyre just another entry level RTR brand. They wont move any inventory now that they've dropped their entire race team
I can see that happening. The moto stuff has already been heavily discounted in lots of places. I said from the jump that unless they get a race series geared around the bikes, they'd be dead in a few years. Multiple other companies have tried it, and did not succeed either.

At this point, if and when the time comes when I need a part and it's discontinued (probably) by that time, and the pre-owned/used market of those parts are insanely high. Sorry horizon, I'll go with AE. AE probably has the best support imo overall and locally. I can still get most of the car in terms of parts for my B74.1. which is basically the same age as the 22 5.0.

It's a classic HH move, they're just shifting the negativity onto a unnamed supplier.
Ie, themselves 🤣

Random question but I wonder what they'll do with 22x4 support. Are they keeping it are are they gonna drop it? Plus, is the 22x4 even sold anymore?

Plus their whole website ain't up to date. Still have listed 22 5.0 and x4 kits as current kits.

Let's give a round of applause for horizon!!! 👏

Yep same! I am going to try and buy up a few sets of spares where I can and run my 5.0 for a few more months while I save up to make the switch to AE. My local track has way better AE support anyway and . Unfortunately my 5.0 is super dialed in right now so its a bummer to walk away from it.

Same. Mine is also dialed in that's why I kinda don't wanna touch it lol.

This is basically Horizons issue. Cars and products for the most part are genuinely good. It's just the support and service for it, is the deal breaker.

Woah woah woah what am I thinking. I still need to fix mine from last weekend lol. But the breakage was on me not the cars fault.

Still have an entire race team listed too..

Ill be interested to see how the new lineups are without input from world class racers.

Currently with the 22x and 22xt I heard some people have leaky shocks but HH always seemed to have those issues with their seals across the board tlr and Proline combined. But other than that from what I see it appears to be dialed.

I'm sure they had quite a bit of input from the previous team on this one. I'm talking further down the line, if they at all are able to continue with releases.

My crystal ball is telling me TLR will be rebranded as an horizon hop-up brand that reflects the 'TLR Tuned' models by arrma

No way in hell that I am going to buy a 22X due to this whole thing. I have owned Losi kits for the past 28 years and I will gladly make the move to AE, Xray or Mugen.

It's funny when I see people mention talking to TLR, or Spektrum, or Arrma as if they are a separate entity from Horizon 😉

And let's analyze their response. They have a company that can produce and supply parts for for the X, but they can't produce parts for the 5.0?

Those older 5.0 parts must have been made with a material that was excreted from the pores of the owner of that previous supplier, and he is the only person on the planet that excretes that particular plastic, and Horizon isn't smart enough to figure out people don't really excrete plastic, and the previous company was simply preying on their gullibility to make more money 🤔😝

It's crazy huh? Not as crazy as this...
I contacted "Spektrum" needing dimensions of one of their servos. This was their response...

Keep in mind. I emailed this from Spektrum's website. The reply as you see came from Horizon. I won't share my reply, but basically I said "Wait, you own Spektrum. So you are Spektrum. So you designed the servo. But you can't give yourself the dimensions of the servo you designed, because you're not in the office?"

So basically he said "If you want product support, you need to contact some random hobby shop. If that doesn't work go ask the geniuses over at Reddit" 😆

Oh I get it! I sent emails to Horizon, and TLR. Sent direct messages to both on Facebook as well as messages to Frank and other drivers as well as Instagram and finally got that response on Facebook messenger from TLR. I am in supply chain and I understand things happen but like you said there is NO freaking way the supplier who makes the 22X parts can't make 5.0 parts. I highlighted this in my response to them.

Like I said in the beginning, all the "supplier" bull crap is all lies. Horizon is filled with lies. They are discontinuing older 5.0 parts so people can move and get the new 22X and other new X models so they can make the money bc its horizon they can always use that money for new shark monster trucks and brushed mini bashers! Lol

I don't even contact any HH customer service anymore. Trying to get the info you want and need out of them is basically pulling your teeth.
Did I mention HH is also super shady? They blocked me from their FB profiles on Horizon Hobby and ProLine, but I still see Arrma and TLRs pages. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Yeah I agree! The only way the supplier thing could hold any weight is if the "supplier" owns the molds and HH owes them money or burned that bridge and the factory is actually standing their ground and not making/delivering parts. I have seen this happen in the mountain bike world where I work with factories in Asia.

More likely though like you said they are using forced obsolescence to try and make folks buy a 22X but instead we are going to just move to another brand that is doing real product development, testing and race winning.

Team Associated went through this with their "4 series" and RC8 platforms. Long storty short: Their parts maker went bankrupt and Team Associated could not get the tooling/molds. People on waiting list/please notify list for backorder parts to come in, got emails saying their RC has been discontinued and no longer supported.
