I've been looking around for a good charger for my RC18MT but haven't found much. It will have to charge the stock 7.2v and an 8.4v 7 cell pack. This one http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMGW8&P=ML

I am clueless when it comes to electric, sorry if this is a dumb question. I found the MRC Super Brain 819, but it says it can't charge micro size battery packs...help?

Oh yea, connections won't matter, I'm converting my two packs and everything to Deans plugs, so I am planning on soldering on a Deans to the charge cord.

Anything that can charge nimh's at or around 1 amp is a good charger. I use a Novak Millenium, but they're sorta hard to find anymore.

Thats a bit overkill for what I need...just dropped a bunch of cash on the truck, just lookin for a cheap charger that will charge my pack faster than a wall charger.

The millenium will do 4-8 cells, .5-5 amp with adjustable delta peak detection. It has three different charge methods, nicad, nimh, and reverse delta (never use that function). It is DC 12v only, so you would need a power supply, as well.

I use it to charge my rc18b's stock pack, as well as my rx packs on my nitros, transmitter packs, venom nightranger, and my 10th scale electric packs.

Nope; never, never, NEVER go with one of those rotary timer units. I call those firecracker-makers. The timer controller eventually wears out and sticks, causing it to stay at the fast rate, SEVERELY overcharging the pack, causing it to literally explode.

Those things should be outlawed.

I don't think you will be able to find a Millenium outside of ebay... However, the Triton that ImBroken posted is a great charger, too.

I paid $70 for mine when it was new... However, you could probably find one on ebay for about $40 or so....

IMO all Super Brain charger SUCK, they are notorious for false peaking. Your better off sticking with the wall charger until you save a few more pennies or find a good deal on eBay.

Well I have the pennies, but I don't want to use too many haha, just dropped way more than I want to admit on the truck itself lol. Thanks for the help Smaxxin.

Honestly, Aaron, if you're going to still spend any significant time in the hobby, it's definitely worth getting a decent charger. Whether it's just for some micro packs or stick packs, you never know what else you'll be getting. I started with a few simple packs, and now I have micro packs, sticks, tx and rx packs and a few LiPo packs for my planes. Frankly $85 for Dom's Triton is a steal. In the long run, it's worth it.

I understand what you mean, its just a lot of $$ for a charger. So the Triton can charge just about anything? I also have the Revo 3.3, which came with the charger to charge Rx packs and 7.2 sticks, all I really need to charge now is the 7.2 and 8.4v packs for the 18mt.

Just noticed, the Triton is only DC input...I don't have a power supply either, my only power source is the wall, 110V AC...

Do you already have the 8.4v pack? I have a Losi Mini-Peak wall charger that I don't use anymore, but it's only good for 7.2v. $12 if you're interested. Otherwise, the Duratrax charger posted above should be pretty good for only 50 bones. I have a Duratrax Intellipeak Deluxe and it has worked well for me. I use it for Nicd stick packs, Nimh micro packs, my Tx and Rx packs.

The 8.4 pack is on its way, I'll pass on the charger, thanks tho lessen.

sure thing man.

I figure it like this.. if you go highline your gonna be lookin at around 200 bones for a top of the line charger w/ power source. If you spend $50-$80 now on a decent multi-purpose ac/dc charger you're gonna save a lot of money and you'll still have something decent that somebody would actually want when/if you upgrade in the future. For instance.. I would probably sell my intellipeak in the $35-$40 range.
