Well this explains why I keep getting jams when printing TPU

Printing some wall mounts for the rc's
Was trying to avoid having them hanging by their wheels as this could potentially warp my silicone and tpu inserts but I decided I needed the space.
These bad boys take about 10 hours each with pteg filament but it will be sturdier.
Waiting on cash for wood and will start assembling the gooseneck
It printed well
The landing gear came out nicely too
Only thing I've had issues with were the ramps
Kept wanting to not stick to plate
And the TPU I ordered is too small for my AMS system.

Can you run the tpu from the separate spool holder? I think the tpu has to be a 85-95A in hardness for the ams to run it. I just always use the external spool holder for tpu.

thats what i figured id need to do, instead i threw all the tpu in the filament dryer and moved on lol, but i did find the difference in the filaments that was causing the issues, it kept stopping the prints i got frustrated and scrapped that whole idea, tpu is off the table for now,
i want to print up a nice bin for holding screws, am on the hunt for an acceptable file with labels for what i have on hand

Printing up wall mounts then onto those screws boxes.
WHen this plate finishes I'll have 7 on hand
Gonna run out of wall space lol
What an awesome problem to have lol
My poor A1 has had no breaks unless I was out of filament lol

Those are amazing @slw2206 Were they multi color prints or did you print them in pieces?
@majin , those hangers are cool, I like how you labeled them! These things are designed to run non-stop, let er rip!

We have been on a Dummy 13 kick here, the kids want me to print one the size of a baby... so, about 20" tall or so? The teacher at their school asked me to print some Minecraft chess sets so I'm on that today.
I got 4 rolls delivered this morning. Some brown for the minecraft stuff, a tri-color green orange and something in between, some transparent for the kei headlight lenses, and a black petg for general purposes.
Let the printing begin.

Nice! I've got my red candy clear for the lights
I haven't tried any of the color swap filaments what kind did you use?
So far I haven't really noticed a difference in filaments. Other than the TPU debacle.
I've tried like 5 Amazon brands
I say that but that's in comparison with one another
The actual bambu filament was the cleanest and easiest. But theo there haven't been head enough for me to not reorder

They're printed as pieces and assembled so we can make them bigger than what a single build plate would allow for.

These things are pretty big and 6-7 pounds of weight 😀
That makes sense, I could have guessed by the size but hey, instead of paying close attention I just spouted off with an ignorant question.
I really thought the multi color print capability was cool, which it is, however it wastes a ton of filament with purging. Even using a purge object still wastes filament. I have done a few multi colors and I just couldn't watch anymore, every 30 seconds it was over there pooping precious plastic when it could literally dump that into a purge object.

I havent used it yet but this is what I ordered. They are pretty honest in telling you that the object they printed was about 250g of filament. It probably takes 50g or more to see a color transition.

Working on an SCX24 wheel design just to play with modeling up a tire. I recently learned how to do it, so I want to see what I can come up with.

There's some fine tuning that makes AMS printing not very wasteful. Tests have shown certain methods can save 75% of waste vs. stock settings.

In Bambu Studio there is a table for the "purge amount" based on what color is being printed and what color you're going to (the closer the colors the less purging needed). Those stock settings can be cut in half with no effect to print quality.

Also you can turn on the options to "print into infill" so you don't waste that filament (this works if your main body isn't a light color).

I've also seen guys who will stretch an articulated model to match the height of what theyre printing so at least the purge tower ends up being a usable articulated vs. a tower

😀 😀
