I'm working on being more careful with my eating since I've developed Type 2 Diabetes in my 60s. When my sweet tooth used to kick in, I'd have ice cream, cookies, etc. Instead, tonight I made a batch of oatmeal.

I chopped up some almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds, then added ground flax seed, some dried blueberries, cranberries and raisins and a little bit of butter. Tasty and healthy. Changing my eating habits is proving effective... my blood test this week showed my A1C is below 6 for the first time since it's been monitored regularly. It helps in other ways, too. I've lost 13 pounds since summer.

(I know I should post a photo to go along with this but I'm one of the few folks who doesn't own a mobile phone, so it's a bit of a project to do so. To post a photo, I have to break out the mirrorless digital Nikon, take the photos, remove the storage card or connect the camera to download the files to the computer, edit them to reduce the file size, then upload them.)

It had a LOT of white and red, urine-smelling connecting fat inside, which I'd rather not post a pic from😅
After removing it all I soaked it in milk overnight. Today I put it onto the pan and cooked for 4-5 minutes

Its texture is quite octopus-like and there is no weird taste. It just tastes a tiny bit like liver. I'll definetely try again if I can find it👍

The blood sausage is amazing👌

When I was young, I worked in my uncle's grocery store. At a certain time of the year, he'd get blood sausage from a nearby Vermont source. It was incredible! I remember that some new FDA or state health department rule made him unable to get it from that supplier at some point.

I've only seen it for sale a few times since then and it wasn't the same... the type he used to get had a very "smooth" texture while the stuff I bought later on had a much coarser texture where you could see little bits of the ingredients.

As for liver, I love it. I started shying away from supermarket liver because I wondered about the chemicals put into animal feeds these days and how much of them might be concentrated in the livers. But I do enjoy the liver from the deer I kill in the fall, and the heart (if I don't shoot it there) as well. One of my buddies turns up his nose at that. He tells me, "You aren't supposed to eat the guts!" 😄

Good deal. I like liver...octopus is fine too.
A well made octopus is delicate and tender, otherwise, it's like rubber.

Good on you....Someone gotta toughen that guy up! I hope he's a guy who identifies as a prepper ready for the end of days....unless it requires eating something that make him uncomfortable.

I enjoy watching these YT hunting videos of primitive African bush people. They would just put all the game guts into a huge pan and just boil everything up. Never see any seasoning being addded. Then everyone in the tribe would just reach in and gnaw on all these cooked and tough organs. I love how much they appreciate their bounty and wasting nothing.

I find most meat is good....the key is figuring out how it's supposed to prepared. One of these days I'm gonna make some tuslob buwa...Philippines style pig brain gravy with sticky rice. I found where to buy brains locally....next I need a wok. Based what's in it I'm sure I will enjoy it....all the other parts of the pig I've had are good.

He's a former Marine, and tough as nails. I'm sure he could eat the hide and hooves if it came down to it... 🦌 👹

Mrs Doom and the cats love that stuff, I've just never cared for cat food that much. 😛 🤣

I loved shrimp cocktail as a kid, now shrimp just aint right. 🤷‍♂️

I got the Biscoff butter in today. This stuff is insanely good. But it amazes me. Somebody actually looked at a cake and said "Damn, I'd love to smear cookies all over that cake!". Cheesecake will be made this weekend.

My peanut butter & jelly sammiches are getting an upgrade. This stuff's killer. It almost has a flavor like toffee or something. Or even roasted coffee. You ruined me man. I'll never buy peanut butter again.

I've been having the spread on toast almost every morning when I'm home.
