Well all the right questions but how much are you willing to spend. After you get a full set up with an electric rc it's all about charging and lets go on the other hand a nitro powered you have to buy fuel and plugs. Just buy rechargeable batteries for radio system, receiver, etc. Hope you get what you need.
 
I say get whatever you want to start with either way there is a learning curve and you don't want to look back in six months and regret not getting what you really wanted.
 
well for my first car(5 years ago. i was 10) i bought a used emaxx brushed. besides hiting a mail box doin about 15mph on ice and snaping in in two it is a great truck. still drive it and is one of my favorites. I would say get a tmaxx, great begginer truck and will hold up to alot of bashing. always smoked my brother rustler vxl in most things9 he could run in snow at all. I got a tmaxx rolling chassis pm if interested.
