Hey guys,

I have made a decision that I am starting to wonder about. I am not going to change my mind, but am wondering about it just the same. You see... I have not been able to race for the last 4 weeks. With the wedding and everything, time just didn't lend itself to racing. Well I went ahead and made plans to race this weekend and got everything set up. Now I find out that my cousins daughter who I have only met twice in like 4 years is having a 4th B day party this weekend. Well I have decided not to go. My wife is going to go in my abscence however. I will probably get black listed, but my urge to race is more. What would you guys have done in my place, race or Birthday party?

Tom

Well, I don't know how much this will help but I have somewhat been "blacklisted" by family. (For different reasons) If this is someone you have very little contact with, and they normally don't go out of their way to contact you, race without remorse. Is a 4yr old really going to remember if you were there, is it likely she would remember you? I would say probably not. Keep in mind that I am also brutally honest with my family and am separrated by about 1500 miles. (Not that it has ever stopped me from saying things to their face when warranted.:2cents:

Oh boy... Only been 2 weeks and you'll be one in the hole already...
Welcome to the married life...
Dont be fooled, the wife will check that off in her mental file cabinet for easy retrieval at a later date... lol

Lets see, A birthday party for a 4 year old that you don't know or racing :ponder2: ..........LOL thats easy go racin!

i think its the wife thats going to be pissed off!!! if i was you i'd sell all your r/c stuff me for 100.00 as a good jester to your wife...lol ok do the race take the wife to a nice dinner that nite it might help as for the kid they dont care as long as they get a present....good luck

Yeah, dinner for the wife and a present for the kid, excellent suggestion. I'm Broken is right, the wife will have that filed for quite a few years, I ain't kidding.

And that mental file cabinet has unlimited space and never looses anything LOL

Damn, maybe we should have women designing our computers....

Wait, I'm sure there's 1,000 good reasons why we don't. Know how it's impossible to remove Internet Explorer from Windows? I'm sure they'd find an irremovable "NAG" program that is active 24-7..

The wife doesn't really want to go, but is going anyway. In fact she suggested I race even still. Hopefully this won't bite me in the arse later! LOL I know all to well about the limitless file cabinet. My wife will be the first to tell you that she can't remember what she had for breakfast, but man come an argument she can pull stuff out that I muttered in my sleep from three years ago!

Tom

All of us here at RCNT told you this was gonna happen! When you said "I DO" the door on the RC cabnet closed with an Imaginary lock and will open on her say so. lol Just so you know...that's gonna happen more and more. Your gonna have inlaws that you never heard of come out of the woodwork. Kinda like if you won the lottery type of deal. But not to worry Tom, I would do the same as your doing. And pretty sure my wife would do the same. But the dinner and the gift is a good plan also. When you get back from running the RC's let us know when you can come out to play!lol Just playing with ya..Go have fun bro. And don't give it another thought.

For Now!!

No doubt my friend! I am going to do just that... race and then make sure a nice dinner is on the table when she returns. She says she is going to go and spend her Victoria's Secret gift cards before she goes to the party! I just hope I can concentrate on racing this weekend! I have two new ST-R's that want to give the CRT a run Saturday.

Tom

okay i'm going to buck the trend here. save the money on dinner and gifts for the wife and just goto the party. i know its just a childs party but for me nothing more important than family. racing is just a hobby that will be there the next weekend.

besides, this way you "earn" a free pass for another day...like dinner out with the inlaws.

That is true...... I guess it is hard to say no to racing when the party is for a second cousin I have only met a couple of times since she was born. Family is very important to me too. I guess my urge to race is winning out since it has been a month since I have been able to. I know what you are saying though.

Tom

OK, so this is your cousin's kid, right? That makes you, what, second cousins? Even if I wasn't racing I wouldn't go, but that's based on my relationships with my cousins. See, can't stand a single one of them! Last time I say my one cousin (at my brother's wedding, and he's already divorced her) he got drunk then started giving me poop about something our grandmother said like 25 years earlier. Flippin' loser!

Don't worry about it, man. If you haven't seen these folks in awhile, they probably won't notice. They send those invitations out because they feel compelled to. I'd tell your new wife not to go, either. I think that'll cause more problems because it's YOUR cousin, not hers.

Enjoy racing!

I'm like MW even if I had nothing to do I wouldn't go to the party and I like most of my relatives. I would go racing and wouldn't do anything out of the ordinary afterwards, thats admitting you feel guilty about your decision.

Damn already your about to get it. i personally would go racing. for the simple reason i barely know this person. raing is something you used to be doing. besides you wont have to buy any presents. you could use the money to buy replacements for the things you broke when you race.

just race damn it you know you want to!!!!!!!!!

If it was me,i would want to go racing really bad,but I'm not married, now if i was in your seat,i would go to the party,Why? because there's a lot of relative's that probablly want to talk to you and the wife together, missing that may piss them off or offend them,go to the party, your r/c's aren't going anywhere, and it's not like you can't leave the party earlly to go racing, think and choose wiselly.

Wait, how many of these relatives that you invited came to your wedding?

You go racing.
New wife goes to Victoria's, get's a nice crotchless thong and fishnet stockings.
You come home from racing, smell of burnt nitro and all dirty, throw it in her for two pumps and a leg shake, slap her in the ass and tell her to make you a chicken pot pie and bring a cold beer with her!

Now THAT is a full day, my friend!
